sparc Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 My feature suggestion is to allow other groups the ability to delete, but be able to give them certain limits on the deletion. So, you can set the groups you want with special delete abilities. Perhaps you can restrict this to only certain forums on a board as well. And the various options are: 1) Ability to delete entire topic or your own individual replies in a topic. (No restrictions) 2) Ability to delete topics where no other member has replied (basically allowing people to delete accidental duplicates) 3) Ability to delete topics where no other member has replied AND ability to delete individual replies in a topic 4) Ability to delete only replies in a topic and not the actual thread. 5) Unable to delete either topic or replies. __________________________________________ The primary benefits of some of these extra options are that they help eliminate some work for smaller sites with limited staff. Between duplicates or cleaning out old content that isn't useful. It also gives the person who posted a little more control of their content. Even if it's decided that it's not worth building into IPB, perhaps it can be released as a special mod from IPB for IPS beyond. ;) Anyways...it's an idea that I thought might appeal to enough sites.
Antony Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 I'd want to be able to do this on a per forum basis. It's a great idea. +1.
sparc Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 still seems like a valid idea to me. Maybe even time based limits might be another way to do it. Allow people to delete posts/topics within an hour of creation. That way it avoids duplicates or errors by a poster.
