This is why I’m so happy being on the Cloud. You say it’s exciting, I’ve never heard of it, but I’m excited that you’re excited, continuously looking to improve the platform whilst I just sit back and relax 👍

Missing features in version 5
Day_ replied to EliasM's topic in Invision Community 5: Beta Testing's Beta Discussion
I love the cloud. Extremely happy customer and for all of the criticism over the pricing, it’s worth every penny to me even without the additional features. I don’t doubt for a second you can go and buy a dedicated server for a fraction of the price, however it’s the time to manage that server, the continuous updates to ensure efficiency and security, the time it takes to understand how to manage that server. Many, like myself don’t have the time or posses the knowledge, that’s why the Cloud has been a godsend. Prior to the Cloud I was on a VPS playing piggy in the middle when issues arose. They said this, tell them that, it’s not us it’s them and so on. Now it’s one email sent, problem solved within the hour, all done for you sir, anything else please let us know. Shout out to @Marc. And that’s happened maybe a couple of times in at a guess closing on 2 years in March. It just works. I see the criticism, I understand the frustration over the tiers, however don’t go dissing the Cloud as for some of us, and I would guess 85% of the 85% Cloud users find invaluable. I’ll also say this, a future where @Matt and the team ever decide this all isn’t worth it, the time, dedication, stresses are not worth the financial returns, it’s a future I genuinely fear as you look at Xenforo, you look at vBulletin, with all due respect that’s not a future I want for my site. If they were trying to sell us a car but the wheels were an optional extra for £1000 each, or headlight bulbs not coming as standard I would get it. You’re getting a fully functional car for the sticker price, but if you want the extra comforts, something to pleasure your passengers like heated seats, it will cost you a little extra and we’ll chuck in a driver as well for you so you can sit in the back and enjoy the ride with your passengers. More time to catch up. Matt, I’ll send you the invoice for this post later, cheers! -

Finally having a play with the Beta, seeing what my site can look like. I have a question. The forum icons, is there any way to have a separate icon for dark mode? Our default icon that we use for all forums is black and that can't be seen in dark mode.

I have just this minute created another and it’s working! 🙌

Beta 5 is alive!

Stupid question maybe you the advice of not upgrading a production site to a beta, just curious though, is there any thoughts of upgrading this forum here to the 5 beta, or not until it’s ready for public release? -
Former IP Chat user here, adding what was my use case and why Live Topics isn’t a perfect replacement. Football forum, soccer to you Americans. We would turn chat on around an hour before the game, then turn it off after the game had finished, was never left on permanently. Offered that real time chat between fans as the game was happening. Some listened by radio, others watched streams, then we had some that were simply following the game by the chat. At times I seem to recall we could have maybe 100 people in there and was a nice little atmosphere, when we were winning at least. No refreshing the page to see if anyone has replied. We can’t use Ajax page loads due to adverts, doesn’t play nice with them. Now it’s gone, we have reverted to an old fashioned topic, refreshing the page. Adds views, extra ad revenue, however the user experience isn’t the same and I get questions every few months, can we have chat despite making it clear it simply doesn’t exist anymore. I would take the revenue hit for the user experience for those couple of hours. Live Topics look great for webinars, fantastic feature. The way it converts to a topic after would be perfect for us! We wouldn’t have a video though, nor are we looking to answer questions by approving every comment to reply. Not only that, even if we could somehow make it work for us by changing the language strings on the page and having someone sat there just approving every post as it happens, we’re limited to just 2 live topics a month with Creator Pro. Our club can play 2 games a week. It’s an extra $80 a month to get 10 live topics. I’m not complaining about the prices, they are what they are, you either pay it or you don’t and for me personally, to get an additional 8 live topics for $80 isn’t worth it for me. Granted you get more storage etc. I’m just looking at the sole reason of why I would be upgrading. Would I love to see IP Chat back? Absolutely, I just don’t see it happening, not sure I’ve seen a decision reversed so it’s a take it on the chin and move on for me personally.

Not sure if this was best placed here, but report or support ticket. Feel free to move, transfer, do as you please. Anyway, I signed up for a demo yesterday, got the details shortly after. Went to take a look last night (uk time), had a bunch of errors of the bat, not even had chance to sign in and break it myself, couldn’t open admin panel nothing. Just tried again this morning, same again. Tried different devices, not my end.

Invision Community 4: A more professional report center
Day_ replied to Matt's topic in Invision Community Insider
You know what, this is truly and I genuinely mean it from the bottom of my heart, a monumental game changer of a feature. 15 years online, I've learnt that communication with members is vital. This keeps both sides in the loop and I've opted into the Beta to upgrade now just to have this. -
I’ve bit the bullet and set a date of November 1st to switch to email logins. I’ve had a topic pinned for 2 years warning people this was coming, then having read this the other day, sent out an alert to all members as well as pinning a fresh topic in the main board. I know I’ll still run into issues trying to recover accounts from those that haven’t been on for a while, just one of those things I guess. Can see the reasoning behind switching to make things more secure, even though we have had no known breaches since opening in 2009. Plus having users email addresses up to date isn’t a bad thing, I might start investing time into email newsletters with a few cheeky ads in to boost revenue.

You know you’ve made a fool of yourself when the realisation kicks in during the post merge time on here.

Twitter is now using the x.com domain which means tweets are no longer embedding properly. Wouldn't call it a bug, more a case of Elon Musk being a tool. Still needs looking at though. Ignore that. They are working. Just loaded verrrrrry slowly. Apologies for wasting your time reading this.
