Thanks, but still no good. The system check confirms that all of those folders are writeable, but it's specifically the files listed in my OP that are stopping things from progressing.

They are - should any of them recurse into subdirectories/files also?

I am migrating hosts, and in the process trying to complete an upgrade on the new environment before switching over where my domain is pointing. I had to manually upload files to the server via FTP. During the system/file check part of the upgrade, I receive the following and am not sure how to proceed. "If you are sure the files have been uploaded correctly, make sure the permissions are set correctly on them." All files exist on the server and were set as CHMOD 644.
