That would indicate that your permissions are still not working and the system can't open those items. You would need to check user/group ownership and your server configuration with your host to ensure it has access. Once that has been resolved, we can investigate further if it's not working.

please advise what and how should i check as "user/ Group ownership"

You will want to check with your hosting provider if you are not sure how to do this on your server.

Hi

I converyed all your replies to server support team

and this is the latest reply  from there side:

Kindly be informed that as per your request, the current permissions for the mentioned directories are 777 and it is writable. Although setting the permissions to 777 exposes a significant security risk, as it allows unrestricted access to your files.

i will revert to 755 for now

please advise on any other actions that i can do

I kept the server support team informed about all your replies , and they cannot define anythign preventing writing to the uplod folder

It would be the following folders, not just uploads:

applications

datastore

plugins

uploads and all subfolders of uploads

Done

still not working

I'm afraid, your server is still having read/write issues and even deleting from the datastore folder. I just manually cleared the datastore folder to temporarily generate new data to help but we'll see if your server can read/write to it and eventually delete from it.

Until this is resolved, we cannot really provide support as the server is not in a working configuration. Have you considered our cloud? You would not have to handle these issues.

Running all your background tasks, I am not seeing any issues when the datastore is cleared and working appropriately. You will need to ensure that the datastore can be read from and written/deleted from appropriately. You may also consider switching to cron based background tasks in ACP -> System -> Advanced Configuration. As you may have minimal traffic to run these when it is necessary to do so.

Hi,

The last time i checked the cloud offers, it was not offering suitable options for large database and storage requirements. That was long time ago.

Meanwhile ,

I conveyed your reply to the server team again

Is there any further specific guidance related to the software requirements or this issue that I can ask them to check or do?

Our plans have changed. Storage space has significantly increased and you can even use your own S3 compatible storage. Can check it out here: https://invisioncommunity.com/buy

I'm afraid, you would need to work with your hosting provider to see why the software can't read and write (and delete). This is really outside our scope of support as most servers do not have this issue so there is an underlying configuration issue here.

Regarding cron for background tasks, you can go to ACP -> System -> Advanced Configuration. Then you should see a command there which you can provide your hosting provider to setup cron for you.

They sent me this picture confirming that permissions are correct and that they are not aware to find any issue., any additoinal guidance or advice ?

@Marafa, are you on a shared hosting or do you have a vps/dedicated box? Can you check the server error logs and see what messages are logged in there recently?

Dedicated Server

The hosting team continuously confirms that the server site is ok and that permissions and settings are correct!

Not sure what to do

I'm not sure what else I can state here. The software is unable to write to these locations. Only your hosting provider can correct this.

They continuously reply that everything is fine on the server side while you confirm that there is an issue with the server.

Can you please provide more guidance about what they should do, what they should check, or any information that the software uses to write to those folders that they should be aware of?

I sympathise with your situation there, but we are at a point where we are unable to assist. If you look in your system logs, you can see the many errors there, with reading files in the datastore folder. Thats not something we have control over

I oppened the system  Log from CP

I am not an expert , but many of recent errors are related to Guests

The log entry was triggered by a guest (00 Visitors)

Background tasks may be operated by guests so that would be expected.

Can you Help with extracting the details of the error you refer to in order to share with the server team

We have already done so throughout the conversation of this topic. Your server is not able to read/write to the following folders:

  • applications
  • datastore
  • plugins
  • uploads and all subfolders of uploads.

Namely the datastore folder.

They said they added and deleted files to specified folder with no issues using user office4a and they attached some pictures as proof that there were no issues

The system for whatever reason cannot read those files. If you look in your system logs, you can see the errors in there. That error is being created by your server. While I understand what they are showing us here, that would not change the fact when the system tries to read files from datastore, its getting errors thrown back from the server.

They say that the server log has no such errors , and the only error is this :

[02-Apr-2022 02:56:28 UTC] PHP Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required '/home/office4a/public_html/ib/datastore/widget_activeUsers_to6h1e0kj_d29ab5bf3ccac0152dd356a1873673f9.107420587f.php' (include_path='.:/opt/cpanel/ea-php74
/root/usr/share/pear') in /home/office4a/public_html/ib/system/Data/Store/FileSystem.php on line 105

and that file does not exist

is there a way that i can extract those errors your refer to  and share it with them
