Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 18, 20232 yr Hi. I am forced to write here in a public forum because I encountered a bug. I uploaded a clean install of IPS 4.7.7 to my web server and unfortunately the "Error 500" error popped up. I'm uploading it for the third time with the intention of success, but unfortunately, immediately after uploading the installer, an error pops up. I have PHP 8.1 version, I also tried changing to PHP 8.0 version but no effect. What can cause this error? I noticed it for the first time in my career when I uploaded the latest version of IPS.
February 18, 20232 yr Community Expert Before you get too far, I'd advise checking the requirements checker on your server: https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/7046-invision-community-requirements-checker/ If that is all green, two options to find the actual 500 Server Error: Try going to /admin and seeing what error is present. On your web server, go to /uploads/logs.
February 21, 20232 yr Hi. I am forced to write here in a public forum because I encountered a bug. Hi @devvLove, Whilst this is a public forum, it is the central place to get any support for Invision Community. We have incorporated the peer support concept which means our knowledgeable community can also assist where they can if they happen to beat us to the topic. We also have the ability to escalate issues to other teams via a ticket, so you are not receiving any less support than before. 😉
February 21, 20232 yr Community Expert Did you manage to get this resolved? Only not during installation but browsing the forum. a 500 error is very generic. Your issue is very unlikely to be the same issue as here
February 22, 20232 yr That is all green. The same error occurs when calling /admin. No logs with nothing inside /uploads/logs. Please help me. Edited February 22, 20232 yr by Jesse Elstak
February 23, 20232 yr Community Expert That is all green. The same error occurs when calling /admin. No logs with nothing inside /uploads/logs. Please help me. I’m afraid, that is different than the original. You will want to check your server’s error log for that one. Please contact your hosting provider if unsure.
February 23, 20232 yr Community Expert Only your hosting provider can assist as Multibyte String is not installed correctly. As it seems to be valid in one folder but not the sub folder. It could be you have multiple versions of PHP installed so you will need to contact your provider to resolve.
February 23, 20232 yr Community Expert Place the ips4.php file within your admin directory and run it there. It may be that location is already not running the same PHP settings
