Invision Community 5: A video walkthrough creating a custom theme and homepage By Matt Thursday at 04:02 PM
Kyle Bass Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 We started getting this error: "The link could not be embedded because that URL is not allowed" when attempting to post giphy links. We are not knowingly blocking any links. I've turned the integration on and off.
Marc Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 I have split your item into another topic. The reason this is not working, is because there is no image at that location. If you visit that manually, you get that error from giphy
Kyle Bass Posted December 21, 2022 Author Posted December 21, 2022 Just now, Marc Stridgen said: I have split your item into another topic. The reason this is not working, is because there is no image at that location. If you visit that manually, you get that error from giphy I don't think I am following you. I posted a giphy link here. It works. When I post it in our forum: Same error. If I follow the link: https://media.giphy.com/media/bUiNp6MvD03MoBvxAm/giphy.gif There is an image at that location.
Solution Marc Posted December 21, 2022 Solution Posted December 21, 2022 In System->Settings->Posting, you have "Allow remote images" switched off. Therefore that URL is indeed not allowed (as it's a remote image)
Kyle Bass Posted December 21, 2022 Author Posted December 21, 2022 I didn't make any changes to that setting so I have to assume it has something to do with a recent update. Thanks.
Marc Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Sorry to hear that. Its likely thats something that has actually been fixed if it was present before and it was allowing them
frunzila Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) i have same problem whit same error The link could not be embedded because of an unexpected error: error: "Something went wrong. Please try again.". Here put error log The URL of page the error occurred on was /index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=editor&do=validateLink Quote TypeError: Unsupported operand types: string * float (0) #0 /home/elforumi/public_html/applications/core/modules/front/system/editor.php(130): IPS\Text\_Parser::imageEmbed(Object(IPS\Http\Url), 470, 800) #1 /home/elforumi/public_html/system/Dispatcher/Controller.php(107): IPS\core\modules\front\system\_editor->validateLink() #2 /home/elforumi/public_html/system/Dispatcher/Dispatcher.php(153): IPS\Dispatcher\_Controller->execute() #3 /home/elforumi/public_html/index.php(13): IPS\_Dispatcher->run() #4 {main} Edited March 24 by frunzila
Jim M Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Please ensure that you have all patches applied in ACP -> Support. Then please ensure that you have provided us accurate ACP access and we can further investigate: We would need to look further into this for you, however the access details on file appear to be incorrect or missing. Could you please update these details by visiting your client area, selecting the relevant purchase, then clicking "Review/Update Access Information" under the "Stored Access Information" section. We look forward to further assisting you. Please also ensure you're not running PHP 8.2 or higher
frunzila Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I got this error after i upgraded PHP from 7.4 to PHP 8, now have PHP 8.1 I disabled now "Allow remote images" because my system error file going crazy
Marc Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Sorry, its not clear if the errors were happening after you switched to 8 or 8.1? Could you please clarify? Also, are you able to switch this on for a short time while we take a look?
frunzila Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I tried all versions Now have PHP 8.1 (ea-php81) Erros are still here The link could not be embedded because of an unexpected error: error: "Something went wrong. Please try again.".
Marc Posted March 26 Posted March 26 before I proceed, please could you check your server error logs and check if anything is being blocked. By mod security for instance
frunzila Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I cant enable or disable ModSecurity on Cpanel, not have this option. server error file is empty

You would need to contact your hosting provider if this is not available to you in your hosting panel. It may be it is not enabled but you would need to check with them.
Marc Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Please update all access details on file, and we can take a look to see if we can see what is going on to point you in the right direction. However this can only really be something on the server end, as it's the only thing changed
Jim M Posted April 13 Posted April 13 16 minutes ago, frunzila said: I am still waiting As mentioned by Marc, we were waiting for you to update all access details on file. We did not hear back from you so assume that was not done yet. We can certainly take a look at the software configuration and see if there is anything we can advise on, but we need access to do so. Have these items been updated?
frunzila Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Access are grantez long time ago, i paused cloudflare for smoth ftp access
Jim M Posted April 13 Posted April 13 There is a patch and database items in ACP -> Support which should be attended to prior to us proceeding here.
frunzila Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Invision Community Version 4.7.16 Running latest version No patch available SeNioR- 1
Jim M Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Please fix the database issues: Once we have these basic items resolved, we can further investigate.
frunzila Posted April 13 Posted April 13 These problems have nothing to do with loading images And before the upgrade it was the same, but the loaded images worked I will look for a way to migrate to vbuletin or other software, seriously, this is a joke for 200 usd per year

It may seem irrelevant, but ignoring our support tools will just cause later issues in the investigation.
