Fifty50 Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Hi, We are trying to move to another host. We moved all the files and the database but we are getting a 500 error. In the uploads/log directory there aren't any logs created. The domain will stay the same in the end but for testing purposes we are using another domain first. Could this be the reason of the 500 error or can I find a more detailed log somewhere? Thanks in advance.
Randy Calvert Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Have you run the compatibility checker to make sure the new host can run IPB? Generally 500 errors will happen either due to file ownership or permission issues. Also since you mentioned changing domains, did you update your conf_global.php and check your constants.php for any hard coded values? (Those would not cause 500 errors but more problems later.)
Solution Daniel F Posted April 19, 2022 Solution Posted April 19, 2022 Have you updated the URL in the config file and have you flushed the cache by deleting the datastore folder content.
Fifty50 Posted April 19, 2022 Author Posted April 19, 2022 Thanks both for the quick replies! After applying the mentioned steps it worked right away on my local environment (Mac). It seemed that some folder permissions were not correct on the test environment (Windows). The forum is loading up correctly now. Randy Calvert and Daniel F 2
Fifty50 Posted May 3, 2022 Author Posted May 3, 2022 Hi again, Unfortunately still having some issues. Local on nginx every page works without any additional settings. But on the new IIS server only the index works.. all the other pages return a 404. Are there any settings that must be set on IIS before these pages work? thanks in advance!

Check your .htaccess for friendly URLs: https://invisioncommunity.com/4guides/promotion/seo-r295/#furls Upload it another time, sometimes it is broken after moving.

IIS will not be using htaccess, and I suspect thats your issue there. We would very much recommend against using IIS for your server Mark H and Sonya* 2
