Commerce Gift Cards - allow a Website Member as recipient

I'm surprised this isn't already a feature of Gift Cards in Commerce -- allowing to Send Gift Card by website Member Name.  This would allow their email to remain obfuscated from the sending person, and bypass the need to tell them to 'print' and 'copy/paste' redemption code manually when they do not possess the email of the person they want to send a Gift Card to on the website.

Could fit in a member field just as email presents an email address field.  Is this something you guys can do, or is this not feasible in the near future?

Commerce lacks so many must-have features, really hope they can focus a little on that too and not only the forum software. I haven't seen any useful features being added for years.

@Adriano Fariahas an app for that.

This is a solicitation, not a solution.  IPS also has an app for this - called Commerce - it just lacks the option to send a gift card to existing website members.  We already pay IPS $300/year, the solution to a suggestion for improvement is not to pay somebody else to do what IPS is more than capable of doing themselves in support of their own systems.  That's why this Feature Suggestions forum exists.

If the suggestion is unwelcome or not likely to ever be implemented, just say so and we'll consider it a no-go, and either work on developing our own solution, or do without.  Just don't try to upsell us when we are presenting a valid feature suggestion for an application that could definitely use it.

Whoa...  no need to go off the deep end accusing someone who has no skin in the game of trying to sell you on something.

It was meant as a friendly suggestion as a way to plug a gap for you.  Any sort of feature suggestion is not going to immediately happen.  Typically it's MONTHS if not longer for suggestions that even are adopted to be implemented and tested.  So if you need this sort of functionality anytime soon you might want to go about your suggested plan of action of developing your own or doing without.

If you don't want to use a plugin, that's fine.  Most people appreciate knowing what options are available to them so that of doing without or waiting an extended time is more painful, they have a choice in how they want to proceed.  There is no need to jump down on people offering a bit of friendly advice, especially when the person doing so has no skin in the game and does not get anything from making the suggestion.
