According to settings I have them set right. as admin I am able to turn my status on. Members can't. Is this a bug?

According to which settings exactly?
Have you checked the member group settings for status updates?

It could be a permisison issue. Have you enabled Can post status updates? for your members groups? It is a group permission btw.

Groups and profile settings

Profile settings I have set to Enabled by default
Status updates will be enabled by default, but users will be able to disable them for their account

Yeah that's what doesn't make sense. permissions are correct as far as I can see.

Let me try a screenshot. You answers are not really clear about THIS setting:

It’s per member group.

That is strange. If that settings is enabled for groups, they should have no problem using the staus update.

I managed to do it. It was a setting in the system.

Which setting was it, if you don't mind saying? Others who read this later may have the same issue and would benefit from knowing.

ACP -> System -> Applications -> expand System -> click permissions "Status Updates"

Thank you, that's helpful. 🙂
