Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
SJ77 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 I lost the xml file for a plugin I need. I have the plugin installed, is there a way to download the xml file so that the plugin could be installed again in the future? Thank you 🙂
Adriano Faria Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 You will need to upload the IPS dev files: https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/7185-developer-tools/ and set your biard on IN_DEV mode and export it. Â
SJ77 Posted March 20, 2019 Author Posted March 20, 2019 So there is a way to get the xml file I need which is FANTASTIC news. once I do this how do I export it?
Adriano Faria Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 A new option will appear in the menu in the plugin row.Â
Makoto Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Note that exporting plugins may not work if you don't have the original development resources for the plugin uploaded as well (which are not uploaded automatically). Unlike with applications, plugins can not be downloaded without being built first, which generally requires the original development files. Also keep in mind that you should never enable development mode on a production site, only test/development sites.
SJ77 Posted March 20, 2019 Author Posted March 20, 2019 @Makoto I didn’t develop the plugin. Does that mean I can’t export?

Unless you can get the development files from the original author, unfortunately not. Attempting to export a plugin that was installed normally will present you with an error like this, As IPS can't find the necessary development files to rebuild the plugin.
Joel R Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Is the developer still active in Invision Community? If so, you can just ask. Â
MIXOH Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 @SJ77Â If you have access to the files of the installed plug-in and to the database of your IPS, you can manually compile the xml file back.
