Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted December 12, 20186 yr We're new here, hence all the questions (sorry!), but having gone through the permissions I'm struggling to work out something. We want to make a user a moderator of a single forum. But we don't want that person to be a 'moderator' as such - i.e. have all the permissions that the regular moderators have (from the Moderators group permissions). We just want to allow them the ability to remove posts, merge posts, edit other posts, etc. in that single forum we assign them to. What's the best way to achieve this?
December 12, 20186 yr Community Expert You add the member as single member in the moderator section of the ACP. You then set it to “restricted” and turn everything off except what you want. You don’t need to assign a membergroup.
December 12, 20186 yr Author Thanks, I can see that now and have added a member as a moderator. Struggling to see how to make that user a moderator of just the one forum now though? I checked the restrictions as you suggested, but cannot pick the forum(s) from there.
December 12, 20186 yr Author Ah... that's not overly obvious - we were unticking them one by one. It's crazy that you have to uncheck all to make the forums tab appear - as it means we now have to go back and check what we want. Is there a logical reason forums tab is hidden until you uncheck all? Your video is great - thanks a lot (What did you make it with by the way?)
December 12, 20186 yr Community Expert It's crazy that you have to uncheck all to make the forums tab appear I can’t replicate that and see no reason why that should be happening.
December 12, 20186 yr Author I can’t replicate that and see no reason why that should be happening. Check the video clip by Newbie LAC - the forums tab only appears when he bulk unchecks all permissions.
December 12, 20186 yr Author That's interesting as our experience is exactly the same as @newbie LAC - to see the Forums tab, you must first click 'Uncheck All' How can that be? At the moment it suggests you are the odd one out 😉
December 12, 20186 yr Is there a logical reason forums tab is hidden until you uncheck all? Because it makes no sense to have all these individual tabs when you already have all permissions. At that point, there's nothing to fine-tune, you already are almighty!
December 12, 20186 yr Author True, but then the Clubs tab is there before you uncheck all - couldn't you argue that should be hidden like the Forums tab?
January 4, 20196 yr To show the forums tab do this: You need to go to content and uncheck can view all hidden content to add the other headers. You don't have to uncheck all.:)
January 5, 20196 yr Your video is great - thanks a lot (What did you make it with by the way?) I was going to ask the same thing?
January 5, 20196 yr Thanks @Ryan Ashbrook I have tried a few but were not great at all, ill give this one a run.
