(NE) Display ads within posts

Featured Replies

Posted
  • Plugin which allows you to place advertisements within the post content posted in your forum.
  • List any advertisements that are configured with a 'custom location' and provide settings to control where and how to display those ads within post content.
    • Control after which paragraph the ad will show
      • 0 = shown before the posted content.
      • If the number of paragraphs in a post is less than the number chosen, then the ad will appear at the end of the posted content.
    • Show within quoted text.
    • Show in all or some forums.
    • Topic exclusion option available to avoid showing ads in topics, if required.

Hi Nathan,

I bought the plugin, but it doesn't work.

There is a very strange behaviour of the plugin:

a) it is NOT showing the advertisement that a choose ... the ad is from somewhere else (I don't know which ad)

b) the ad is like in the screenshot -> over the text

Show your settings (each tab) - that's for the 'wrong ad'

the placement of the ad (over the text) ... That's down to the code in the ad itself. Nothing to do with the plugin.

here are the settings:

So what's the problem? You have one as enabled, and it's showing a different one? Do you have e the same custom location set for both?

Send me ACP credentials if you want.

It doesn't work.

What I did:

  • new test ad -> only Admin can see
  • unique custom location
  • activating your plugin

-> no ad to see

In the absence of these, sit tight while I try to reproduce your situation (will be quicker with the above though)

Try version 1.0.1 - if it doesn't resolve your problem with the 'wrong ad' then I am going to need ACP credentials to take a closer look (screenshots of the results is not going to cut it here)

With that version ads are showing (like test ads with <strong>test</strong>) - adsense doens't work.

It seems to be a javascript problem

An possibility of adding usergroup permissions so I don't show the ads to those subscribing to ad-free version of site?

Permissions are handled by the advertisement itself:

What's fixed in v1.0.2

  • fixed issue where ads that were disabled were overriding enabled ads. (v1.0.1)
  • fixed issue with Adsense code triggering a back-end PHP DOM error and failing to display ads (v1.0.2)

awesome plugin,

i was using this kind of inpost ads, if you use a google ads with text only type you'll have more clics and more ads revenue !

a suggestion by the way,

can you add an option to show the ads in latest post too in addition of first ?

  • Author

What's new in v1.0.3

  • added some additional options to the 'Which post(s)?' plugin setting. Now includes:
    • First post only
    • All posts
    • First post on each page only
    • Last post on each page only
    • First and last post on each page

Is it possible to extend this to Pages and Blogs, and allow for text to wrap around the ad?

thanks,

Steve K.

Should be able to - I do some similar stuff in this plugin to what I do in my HTML5 audio/video player, so I'll take a look.

Now that is going to be a bit more difficult - the ad is placed between paragraphs, not within a paragraph. If you can come up with a html example of what you want to achieve, then I can take a look to see if it's possible here.

I think something with a float tag and margins

float: right, or float: left. users choice and then a margin to pull away from the text.  Can start at the next paragraph after the number of paragraphs already defined.

Ah, ok...so not text wrapped around the ad....just a different position for the ad to the left or right of the paragraph. I'll have a think about it....shouldn't be too difficult, I reckon.

  • Author

What's new in v1.0.4

  • added additional option to allow positioning of advertisement to either left or right of the targeted paragraph.

What's coming in v1.1

  • plugin will be extended to Pages, Blogs, Announcements and Calendar items.

Just installed this on 4.3 and I'm not seeing any of the ads or options to select ads.

Have you tried toggling that 'Enable' option? Have to ask the obvious, based off the screenshot.

And only ads with a 'custom' location will be available as within the content is a custom location.

That was the issue. I had to have the ad enabled and have it set to custom for it to show up. Thank you. Now I can see the custom placements :).

Nice one...thanks for purchasing. I'll do an update soon to hide that paragraph setting for enabled = off though. ?

Awesome. One more little request. Any chance you can add second post instead of first? Or maybe a tip on where I can edit it so that it's second instead of first by default? Thanks again for this!

I've been toying with a few extra options there so will take a look.
