Changing avatar size?

Does anybody know how to change the avatar size?

I am testing with a demo right now. There is NO way to change the default avatar size. I want the avatars to be 250x250. When I upload the avatar, it seems to store it at a smaller size, then STRETCH it back out to 250x250.

If you look at this picture vs. this picture, you can see the quality of the pictures is different. This is REALLY bugging me and stopping me from purchasing IPB. Please tell me there is a way to fix this. Not everybody wants a tiny avatar.
