how to just add the image

i wan to know if any one know how i can go about just adding the image in the back round only and not show in the links of the forums

i got the images in the back round of this but i dont wan it to go to the topics link what codes is just for the menu cant find it the only thing that i can find is this .ipsMenu_keyNav  am i missing something because it should look like this

and not like this
