Deleting groups with members inside

Hi everyone,

I have a question that has been on my mind for quite a while now, and haven't been able to find an answer so far.

Am I able to delete a user group with said group still assigned as a secondary group to a number of members?

I have some groups from a previous software package that I would like to delete, but I am concerned that deleting the group with members still associated will delete/corrupt their accounts.

Any advice would be appreciated.
