Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
mick2me Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I want to restore an earlier database backup from 6 years ago to recover and copy some now deleted posts. This will be temporary and It wont be public. I want to install it either in a new forum directory on original domain hosting, www.originaldomain.com/forums2 Or under a new domain name which is an add on domain under my shared hosting plan. www.newdomain.com/forums. Can this be done, if so how and which is the best way to do it?
ZackL Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 You would need the files of the DB version you're trying to restore. For example, if you're trying to restore a IPB 3.2 board, you'd need files from a 3.2 branch of IPB. All you'd need to do is configure the IPB database credentials for the version you're restoring.
mick2me Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 Thanks are you saying that you need to restore the files from the forum version at the time of the SQL backup?
ZackL Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Not the exact files that you ran, but from a package of the same version as your database.
