jackflash Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I understand that PHP 5.5 is required to run version 4.1. If I upgrade our server to run PHP 5.5, will this effect our 3.4 sites? In another words, can 3.4 sites run on 5.5? I've also noticed that the latest version of PHP is 5.6.22 - should I just upgrade that with a mix of 3.4 and 4.1 sites or ? ?
RevengeFNF Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 The last version of php is 7.0 and not 5.6. IPB 3.4 works till version 5.6, so you are good and i suggest you to built 5.6 instead of 5.5.

Rhett Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 apache 2.4 and php 5.6 is perfect. php7 is not officially supported by many a this time, which is why you don't see it on the release version you are using in whm .
RevengeFNF Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Does WHM supports Nginx? That would be the perfect

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Rhett. That's what we'll do
jackflash Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 @Rhett After you choose the Apache and PHP version, there's a screen which has two options: Save only (do NOT build) or Save and Build. What's your take on which to go with. I am leaving whatever options are checked on the short options list and exhaustive options list the way that they are....
CheersnGears Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Moving to Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.6 should result in a decent speed increase for you as well. Make sure you select the proper encoder for your site in the exhaustive items list if you are using Nexus. Save and Build.... then go get a sandwich because it will take a while.

I remember waaaaayyyyyyyy back when Cheers and Gears covered a lot of GM stuff - way different looking now.

ASTRAPI Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Try to install an Nginx addon on your setup and php 5.6 Then optimize them and optimize also your database and you will be fine with zend opcache and Memcached....
