chilihead Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Summary: Put this in content item as well as comment. The URL share icon exists on all comments/replies of content items, in all apps. But there is no share icon for the content item, except the share bar which is external site icons and email only. At the top right we should have the , and in the share bar there should be a URL share no? (Topics don't count because comment #1 is the topic so the share icon is there, but I wish it was the actual topic URL not comment URL.) Take for example an article. I want to share it on the forum. I can grab the URL from the browser, but let's say I clicked from the stream to get there so the comment is in the URL. I have to edit the URL or it will go to the comment. That may not be evident, and pasting before trying to edit embeds it anyway. That means highlight the portion from the address bar. That is awkward. And once it embeds, users are sometimes unaware it links to a comment, or they don't know how to edit an embed or get the correct URL. Can there be an easy way to share content items? An easy solution is add the URL share icon to the content item same as comments. Easy for mobile users too. On some sites the breadcrumb location is active and you can right-click to grab it, but on IPS your location is greyed. Maybe that can be active as well? Just thinking of better ways to be able to share. PS. It is missing from status updates as well, you can click the timestamp but that is not intuitive (as other app timespamps are not even clickable). Thanks!

This was fixed in the Tracker and post #1 of a topic will now be the topic URL (4.1.12). But I'm still wondering why all other apps don't have the link share icon on the content item. Is this perhaps an oversight?
