Setting a subscription duration, without auto renewal

For 4.x, I see that you can set an auto-renewal after a year, etc. - But what if I want to sell a subscription for 1yr, that doesn't auto renew, but instead just sends an email reminder 10 days before the subscription expires, encouraging them to manually renew (along with a link back to the store)?
