Edit status updates needed to encourage activity +bump reply

When I finally upgrade to 4.1, I intend to encourage members to use status updates more, similar to FB, where most of the activity occurs. With the full editor now they can post what doesn't fit in blogs or forums (status type posts that once took up forum space because they had the full editor there). However, they are not going to use it if they can't edit the status.

Is there a reason IPS won't allow status update editing? I plan to use this mod but really hope it can be added as a core function.

Also when a status update receives a reply can the status please be bumped in the stream? They fade away when active/popular. At least an admin setting.
