IE8 Console Error

I'm currently running some testing through Internet Explorer 8 and I'm finding 2 console errors causing the the js to break. One being an 'Expected Identifier' in root_framework.js and 'ips.controller is null or not an object' in global_global_core.js. I have of course not modified these files.

I can post exactly where the error is in the files but I was wondering first if there was something obvious that had to be enabled/disabled debug-wise to get it to play nicely with IE8. If not has anybody had issues like this before?
