Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
RLPVT Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 I loaded the file "Check_Requirements" and tried to run in the board directory which most call the forum directory, I got this on first run: Fatal error: Call to undefined function () *********/board/check_requirements.php on line 3 Then I refreshed it and it went straight back to this same message in Firefox:The connection was resetThe connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. Of course the message is different in all browsers but basically it fires right back at me with this message. Anything not related to the IP software or other PHP files will open. Problem is most of my site is built around IP Content. I cannot believe they have hosed me this bad. Folks don't ever get sick it was only 4 days and I paid once I got out of the hospital. Whatever they did to suspend this has totally destroyed it from working. The domain is there and active and the site will open everything else but all Invision files are pulling blanks. I also find this strange. When I go into the Cpanel for my hosting. I click on phpinfo and it opens a new tab and when tries to display the phpinfo its a blank page nothing is there
Rick L Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Given your description, I'd contact your Host again and politely tell them that your VPS worked before they suspended/canceled it, and will they please get it working again as this is clearly not something you did to cause the problem, but rather something they did. Just repeating this. Would you be able to tell us the host ?
RLPVT Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 No I don't want to drag anyone into a host argument but I had them look at it and they can't now figure it out either. Very frustrating
rct2·com Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 They can't figure it, but have they taken it away to figure and fix it?
RLPVT Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 no which why I am moving my site just wish I could get this fixed for now until I can move it I was hoping i could find a VPS person who could look into this for me that knows VPS and Invision software that might be able to figure this out.
Aiwa Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 That check requirements script is not really IP.Board related. It's a php script checking to see if required server functions are installed / enabled. If it's not running, there is a fundamental issue with apache / php, not IP.Board.
RLPVT Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 yeah I figured that because all php files aren't working and when I click on php info it won't execute
rct2·com Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 VPS is a generic term. Which software/control panel are you using to access your virtual server? If we knew that, we may be able to help better.
RLPVT Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 ok so just an update. I moved my entire site and have already completed and changed my Conf global file to the new DB name and password I created on the new host. Good news is no more blank pages so I know for a fact it is the host messing something up. So the bad news is when I go to the URL I get database driver error. It's giving the standard: There appears to be an error with the database. If you are seeing this page, it means there was a problem communicating with our database. Sometimes this error is temporary and will go away when you refresh the page. Sometimes the error will need to be fixed by an administrator before the site will become accessible again. So did I miss a step in my host set up?
Grumpy Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 You need to alter your conf_global.php for IPB. And update your db connection info to your new one.
rct2·com Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Any error messages in the SQL error log files? In your IPB cache folder on the server.
Aiwa Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Look at this file, /cache/sql_error_latest.cgi. That'll tell you what the issue is.
RLPVT Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 You need to alter your conf_global.php for IPB. And update your db connection info to your new one. I did that so that's not it but thanks. As for the responses when I get home I will check the logs. Duh I forgot about that :-)
RLPVT Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 OK this is strange so I looked into the sql error log and found errors for it calling the old DB name from the old host. Under my forum folder I changed the conf_Global file to the new username and password. Why is the site still calling the old one ? The good thing is all of your help has been tremendous. Thanks guys. We are making progress.
RLPVT Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 OK I got it back up and running! Well sort of. There was a fat finger in the password on the conf_global file so I have to smack myself for that. I still have bugs and I hope you guys might know. I can open a ticket but I like fixing these things myself. images in post My images are blown up everywhere when they should be thumbnails. I also cannot upload images in posts.Get a server error. I cannot access my admin CP either. It gives me this error: We could not find the page you were looking for. The URL is correct. I was going to go into the Admin CP and change the upload folders from the move thinking that is why the images and thumbnails and uploads aren't working but I cant get to the Admin CP But again this is progress! EDIT: I figured it out the .htaccess file needed to be deleted in the Admin folder and rebuilt so that fixed that. I tell you if I keep messing around I might get this fixed. So what I have found out now is it was nothing I did on the old host. They corrupted the php set p on the server. All I did was move all my files over and uploaded them and got the conf-global file fixed and I am almost there. Now just got to fix these pesky folder setting for images and uploads. Which I am having issue with right now. But who know I might get that. Again thanks to all for helping me and when you didn't give the right answer you still helped me think through this by your suggestions.
Aiwa Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Make sure your conf_global.php is writeable and the changes you made actually stuck. Whoops, didn't see your follow up post. :P Glad you've gotten is sorted.
RLPVT Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 yep this is completed and I am back up and running Thanks to all of you
