I would recommend give full support for MariaDB in IP Suite 4. I tested MariaDB and I noticed a great increase of performance.

Although I asked for this via ticket few months ago and I got this ansver:

The only supported database is currently MySQL. While MariaDB is not officially supported, and we cannot guarantee that it will work correctly with IP.Board...

So then if you can guarantee full support, then I will be pleased.

I highly doubt support would ever shun you for using MariaDB, unless you were somehow experiencing an issue specifically linked to MariaDB.

(Which shouldn't ever happen, because as stated MariaDB is a drop in replacement for MySQL, it should just work)

Indeed, we officially support MySQL only, but MariaDB is effectively just a MySQL replacement and the only problems you'd have to worry about is if we felt the issue you were facing was due to using MariaDB specifically instead of MySQL. I have a hard time imagining that scenario actually occurring.

I use MariaDB on http://www.gamedev.net/ .. no problems obviously, given that it's a drop-in replacement as stated.

MariaDB and Percona both work just fine, I have used them both without any issues.

seeing as how maria will be RH/Cent defaults real soon this question will come up more.
