eta for 3.3 version

While it would be nice to provide an ETA for releases, it's not something that we do. The best we can tell you is "When it's ready" as you never know what may come up etc.... with that said, it's the core focus at the moment! :)

You know what's going to happen... the frequency with which this question is asked will accelerate exponentially over the coming weeks. AND THEN when 3.3 does arrive the moaning will begin:

"You released it to soon!"

"Why doesn't it do this?"

"Why does it do that!?!?!"

"It's got bugs!!!"

"It's pink!!!!!!"

Happy New Year IPS!

We are shooting for an late first/early second quarter 2012 release date (a release date from IPS!).

That's not an ETA, thats when they want to get it out, doesn't mean that it will be out by then.

So you don't think the words "a release date from IPS" should be interpreted to mean that's when they expect it to be ready by? OK...

Of course they may miss the target, but that's why it's an estimate. If they were writing solely when they *want* to get it out, they could have said "tomorrow".

Well being here for a few years, and seeing as they've never given out a release date before, yes I do.

The whole tone of that part of the post was "Look, something we never usually do! A release date!". If we're not meant to take those words at face value then why did they bother saying anything at all? It shouldn't be necessary to be a customer for several years to be able to decode the language used in their announcements.

Maybe they are regretting having said it now (and as a QA team member maybe you have inside info on that), but it doesn't change what was actually said.

I'm not stressed, don't worry. :) There would be something sort of ironic about getting into a forum battle about forum software though...

I just found the suggestion to be quite amusing that a stated ETA is not actually an ETA simply because previously IPS have not given ETAs.

The ETA in the blog entry is just that - an estimate of when we expect the software to be available. It is not an exact date (or even month) and it is just an estimate. It remains, however, our current estimate for delivery of 3.3.
