If Administrators can restrict topic views to the original post, it would allow many sites to open up more of their board for search indexing, as well as promote new user registration to read the rest of the content of the threads.

Personally I stay away from any website which prohibits any part of it from viewing.
To me it's unfriendly. Why would I have to sign up to see something there?
There will be plenty of other sites to find out very same information.

The original post often has the bulk of useful information in a thread. Discussion that follows it is optional. If the OP is interesting enough to read the replies, then all the more reason to join up to partake in that discussion.
