Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Robulosity2 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I brought this up in a ticket, and although I understand some of the potential complexities of doing so. I think it would be a great way to increase the use for those of us who host sites to have the IPS Spam Service made as an API that could be tied into cpanel, apache etc. (The API could be set to accept the request from a specific IP and only if the API Key is still valid which would require an active IP Board License) Also, as a possible feature wrapped into IP Board it would be nice to have the option to just drop the Registration with an error like "Sorry we are unable to register you, please try again later or contact the board owner"
Guest Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 What exactly would you do with the API?
Mark Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 The Spam Service would be ineffective for much else other than forum registrations. The Spam Service doesn't just use a simple a blacklist; using it in an unexpected way would likely confuse the AI and cause false positives. You'd be better off using something like Akismet.
