August 6, 201014 yr None the less, upgrades are not a requirement. You choose to either make them or not make them. ;)
August 9, 201014 yr Author It is presumptuous to assume that you know better than I what my requirements are.
August 10, 201014 yr Hunting and Pes- why are you attacking everyone? You've clearly made your pointand are now just going off on a tangent. That is absolutely no way to act if you want something done. Yeah, I want those tabs back, but IPS can't just crank out a new release every day just for you to get what you want. If it is that urgent, then why not edit The file and put them back? It's really annoying noadaus when everyone thinks that being rude and frankly an butthole surfer will get you anything on a silver platter... You've made your point, Mark has agreed with you, and you haven't provided a clear answer of the things you want back. All you've been complaining about seems to be that they have more info there for upgrades and stuff. It's their product. If you hate it so much then why not make your own? If you can't make your own, then you should be more considerate to the people tying to help, and the company who is trying to work with your idea. Goddamn. My tangent it over. This community is going downhill with all ofthis rudeness. (Ironic since this post is a bit rude anyways, but I've had enough of it.) Pardon the typos. Sent from iPod.
August 10, 201014 yr I don't know what have you read, Fishfish, but i'm not attacking or being rude. I'm only complaining about a very useful feature I use to have in my board and claiming to get back in the next update. You've made your point, Mark has agreed with you, and you haven't provided a clear answer of the things you want back. All you've been complaining about seems to be that they have more info there for upgrades and stuff. Again and again, things I / we (yes, we are a lot) want to get back in dashboard: In other words, the old dashboard. There's no reason to eliminate all this stuffIt's their product. If you hate it so much then why not make your own? If you can't make your own, then you should be more considerate to the people tying to help, and the company who is trying to work with your idea. Sorry, I don't want to offend you, but this is a stupid sentence. It's not their product, it's our product, since I paid for it and I'm in my right to claim for unwanted and unjustifiable changes. Obviously I'm only complaining, not hating (maybe you don't know the difference between these words), and of course, I can't make my own board system. For this reason I paid for my copy. At rest, I'm very happy with IPB, I'm using it since 2003, I began with old 1.2 version. Sorry for my poor english
August 10, 201014 yr (locked accounts, number of members online, validating, etc) I like those up front and easy to check as well.
August 11, 201014 yr since I paid for it and I'm in my right to claim for unwanted and unjustifiable changes Sure, everyone has that right. But it doesn't mean you have the right to be rude to people who disagree, or who argue other points.
August 11, 201014 yr Author Hunting and Pes- why are you attacking everyone?. Unlike yourself, I have yet to go "off topic" and Pescamediterraneo has provided you with suitable answers. I'm certain the powers that be would intervene if they thought anyone went too far in any topic.
August 15, 201014 yr heh.. I think your points have been made, and harping on it IS rude and kind of disrespectful and so is telling everyone they are wrong simply because they disagree with you (which both of the two primary posters in this topic have done).. Personally? I prefer the new Dashboard to the old, if that makes me a minority so be it, but I find it cleaner and better organized with each release.. If that means I have to click a "few extra times" so be it as I value clean and organized over cluttered and "simple".
August 16, 201014 yr I rather do love how amajority of people are stating how huge of an "inconvenience" this is, living in a world where 2-3 extra clicks is a terrible thing indeed Agreed! What's the big deal? Everything is still there you just have to do like 2 more clicks. And there aren't a LOT of people complaining about this, I only see a few on this thread. But I'm sure most of us have upgraded to 3.1.2 and if it were really a problem, this thread would span into the thousands of replies. I think those complaining are probably neatness freaks that if you rearrange their furniture they go into state of panic :D Lighten up already. I think the changes to the forum are positive. And NO I don't see any advertising just little tid bits of interest that I'm usually too lazy to come here and look up ...

Lighten up already. I think the changes to the forum are positive. And NO I don't see any advertising just little tid bits of interest that I'm usually too lazy to come here and look up ... The interest in this topic (and at least two other topics have been started on the same subject) belies your comment. If it were of no import, it would have been allowed to die. As it is, people such as yourself keep returning it to the top of the list. Thanks. Of rather more direct relevance to this issue is Mark's "big yellow box". ...you'll see a big yellow box... [img] [/img] Having validated three new accounts in recent days (yes, it's a small forum), only the first resulted in a "big yellow box" appearing on the Dashboard. The other two were visible only in the System Statistics block under the Support tab. So it ain't working as it should do guys and please, if you must do it this way, make the notifications more visibly arresting. A pale, pastel yellow box gets lost among the advertising.

August 17, 201014 yr A pale, pastel yellow box gets lost among the advertising. I don't see how. It's at the top of the page before any 'advertising' that you call it. If it's really that bad, then change the CSS file to suit your needs
August 17, 201014 yr Having validated three new accounts in recent days (yes, it's a small forum), only the first resulted in a "big yellow box" appearing on the Dashboard. The other two were visible only in the System Statistics block under the Support tab. So it ain't working as it should... For what it's worth, this was a bug that's been fixed. I do believe the fix was posted in the tracker, but I'm not 100% sure of that.
November 7, 201014 yr The point of the change not to turn the dashboard into an advertising platform but mainly because the dashboard had so much information before, that important warnings (like, for example, your software is out of date) were being lost in the noise. The new design was intended to remove extraneous information and make important notices more prominent and noticable. What I would prefer to do rather than bring back the box completely is introduce dashboard warnings for important information. For example, you'll notice if there are any accounts pending admin validation, you'll see a big yellow box alerting you to this. Particularly what statistics do people miss? As Michael mentioned, total members, posts, etc can be viewed on the board index - and the big one (pending admin validations) has been moved to a notification. To anyone who watched their ACP for changes in those numbers: particularly which numbers were you looking at? We can create notifications for them. We're of course not out to make anyone's life difficult. The change was intended to make a useless page useful, and ensure that everyone was aware of important information (you should always be running the latest version, for example). We're happy to make adjustments though :) True you can see this on the forums but why does the Admin have to go to the front of the forums to see information that should be listed in an area for quick and usefully place? As of it current standing it lacks to much news about IPB stuff, having all that information from IP Latest News & IPS Latest Blogs is nice I believe it should be put else were so that important information to that Admin of there forums can choose to put up what that want. An example would be have a module system so that users could add and take away what they want to see. IP Tracker is doing something like this. But the information of the board information that was there help to get to places faster then click a few times. As this information was not updated in 3.1.2 nor 3.1.3 I don't see this going very far.
September 7, 201311 yr Has there been any movement about returning the board account statistics back to the main ACP page or has this become one of those issues that seems to have slipped by IPS? Personally, I would like to see the validating members and locked accounts return to the main ACP landing page. It's been awhile since this was last discussed and I'm wondering if this is being considered for IPB 4.
