RSS feed should optionally output posts, instead of only topics

Currently, the IPB RSS exporter only lists topics. I have been using the RSS Post Exporter modification and really like it -- it allows the RSS export to output individual posts. This allows forum users to more closely monitor discussions within topics. I have just updated this modification to IPB 2.2.0.

This sounds like exactly what I was looking for but I don't know where to go from here. I am a brand-new several-rungs-from-the-top no-access-beyond-admin-control-panel part-time administrator. I'm guessing that the RSS Post Exporter described here is a modification that requires lower level access to install. Could you tell me what that is so I can converse somewhat intelligently with the folks who installed IPB? Is there any chance that this will someday be a standard feature?
