By law, a user must be able to unsubscribe from the community and you can also decide to delete all its contents. IPB does not have this function ... how is that possible? As an admin, I can delete the user and decide whether to delete all his messages as well. As a first step an admin must delete the user without his posts and this he can do ... The problem is that the posts become all written by an unregistered user. If subsequently the user (no longer registered) wants the cancellation of all its contents, the admin on can do it. This is a very serious shortcoming ...

Reaction permission at the user level should be a thing. I'm sure many of you are aware of "rep bombing", or the act of mass reacting to someone's content with the sole intention of hurting their credibility or personal growth within the community. Reactions & Reputation is a great way for users to express themselves. Removing it entirely or not allowing "negative reactions" due to a few bad actors is not an ideal solution. We should be able to restrict bad actors from using the Reaction / Reputation system at the user level.

I think I posted about this ages ago but its something I find so annoying and it would be great if it could be improved. The user interface for starting a post simply doesnt work when you have sub forums. For example if I want to start a topic in general chat, when I select it I then have to click in the white area beside the drop down to make the drop down disappear and show the continue button.

Any thoughts on the possibility of rotating a given advertisement ‘location’ periodically. Here’s what I mean. I have a single advertiser per day on my community. I would like to make that ad into the ‘Sponsor of the Day Advertiser’. So every day, I would like my sitewide ads (or ideally do so each different location) to rotate to a different ad. based on a time It could be hourly, daily, weekly, only on Sundays, etc. Currently, I have to go in manually and enable or disable the source advertisement. Not sure this will be a priority for most… 🤐

It would be great if there was a feature to rebuild posts after a word filter(s) was added. I know there are some plugins/apps to achieve this but something built in sounds like a no brainer for a complete word filter solution. Also, is there a template to use a word filter xml file? Or is this created when you have these on one site and then download?

I have one main forum where 90% of the new topics belong, and several more specific, lesser used forums for more advanced users. I wish I could set up the Start New Topic button on the main forums page to skip the forum chooser (which confuses most of our visitors anyway who end up posting in the wrong forum) and instead post directly in our main forum. It's easier for moderators to occasionally move the rare topics that don't belong in the main forum than to constantly move topics that are posted in the wrong forum back to the main forum.

Personally I see its future and its strength in its admin panel, its ease of use, the addition of plugins with a minimum of bugs or rapid correction in the event of a problem interaction between them. And especially in the core who are the members and exchange between them or in specific groups that it is something dedicated not external like for example word press with bbpress buddy press and plugins that never end. I hope that this post is not made to talk about the shortcomings it could have but rather how can IPS respond in the near future to our needs corresponding to the needs of today's Internet users? Thanks

As it stands now, people are just doing what they are told, then being advised some time afterwards t…

We make great use of the Reporting system within our community, nurturing a self-moderation approach within the community itself. One feature that would make moderation more efficient, would be to have a button (perhaps directly under Status) to send a PM directly to the Reporter. We have to manually click on the member and then click Send Message. I know it's only a couple of clicks, but the easier it is the more often they would be followed up. Even better would be when you click the proposed "Respond to Reporter" button, it pre-populates the Subject with "Report Response: Thread Title Here".

Would it be possible to use security keys in the 2FA in the future? Would it also be possible to generate a backup code in case the 2nd factor is lost?

Currently, once a CKEditor plugin is installed then a new version of the same plugin cannot be installed. The only options available to handle this one are to: Upload the new versions code via FTP (not possible for Cloud customers) Reset the Editor to default configuration, blowing away ALL plugins added to the Editor as well as any custom buttons added.

Can we enhance members tab page, so that list members can be selected ALL or Checkbox ones - to easily delete them. For example: Under banned members or spammers - option to select and delete the members, would be very helpful. It would be nice to have some IPS 3.4.x features back! Thanks.

can you please increase the use of site automation and if possible make it easier for the developer for example to integrate this into their application. for example that any action, reading a subject, clicking on a button... on the site can be chosen in "when" and dane "then", be able to send a private message, an email, change groups... thanks

We can no longer be communities with members alone and left to their own devices. When a member registers in a community, he is behind his screen, alone and isolated, left to himself. Today Internet users have become more demanding, we can no longer afford many things like 20 years ago. For example, we will use zendesk to respond quickly to a guest because he wants an answer right away and does not want to wait. Can you add the possibility of using a system like calendly so that each member can choose a day and a time to be reminded in order to have live audio or video support. It could be a right for each new subscriber of 15 minutes for example,…

Could IPS one day make it possible to automate the forum as much as possible. For example, send to a specific member chosen (according to his group) or on a given date, or an action (reading a post, clicking on a button). transmet to him A text + a PDF file + a video + a link, this by email or in a private conversation on telegram for example. Telegram seems to be arriving soon on ZAPIER if that helps. We have arrived at a period where it is necessary to avoid efforts towards members as much as possible, such as having to go to the forum, search, connect, download... You have to try to present everything to him simply in front of him.

This is an option we used to have many versions ago. We could create a block and but have it not start pulling content until some variable number of entries/articles back. This is useful for building a page of articles from multiple categories, but the newest 4 articles (for example) might get featured at the top in one block and then another block below picks up at article 5 in a different block format. It's also useful if you want to have a block pull 3 articles, place an ad, and then the next block pull the next three article, and so on. It's a feature I use on Wordpress sites all the time to prevent the same article from being shown twice on the same page in dif…

Marking a post here as a "solution" is great but without an informative subject title the value to the community is minimized. This topic: Is this right? has a solution. Which is great, but what exactly was "solved". If a staff member decides that an answer warrants the "Solution" designation, they should tweak the subject title (if needed) to reflect what exactly was solved. This will help provide more relevant "Similar Content" and make it easier for others to see problems and any marked solutions more readily when scrolling through the forums.

To monetize a community the sticky sidebar ad unit is a big earner and generally not too disruptive to your readers. I wish we could add a sidebar to nearly every page of the Invision community including: Search (including Search results). Profile Private Message

I currently send some datalayer-information in the themes of the forums I manage. I saw that you've implemented a datalayer-section and decided to take a peak at whether it would make sense for me to utilize that instead. Initial thoughts is that I'll likely just continue use my own code in our themes. The information we analyze the most in Google Analytics is these two things: Comparing guests vs those logged in Which sections are most popular and traffic change etc. for each section In your current implementation you only send information about the closest container. What I would suggest is that you also include the entire breadcrumb data in…

The filter block on the Pages is hard to customize (no custom block based on the default one) and it has some mobile issues. E. g. Placed in the right sidebar it is displayed below the record lists instead of above the listing Swapping the sidebar to the left does not solve the issue, as then the filter is placed in mobile above the title and description of the record listing instead of below the description and listing We also cannot add the block two times on the same page, e. g. one with visibility for desktop only and one for mobile placed in a different area The filter with a long checkbox set should be inlined in mobile to avoid scrolling thr…

I wish I could see a user rank instead of a member group in forums and comments. The rank is more descriptive and tells more about user activity and trust than a member group. It has more granularity. But it is quite hidden. I have to hover over the user name to see his rank. When I disable profiles for guests, the guests cannot see ranks at all. And on mobile, I can see a rank only if I open the profile as there is no hover. Only for the groups that are excluded from the rank system, the member group should be shown.
