Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes! When you check out you'll choose a temporary *.invisionzone.com address. Once your plan is set up, simply contact our support team and let them know you'd like to use your own domain name - they'll provide instructions for you. Using your own domain name is free.
-
Yes, all of our plans include free SSL (HTTPS). If you choose to use one of our provided domains, SSL is automatically configured for you. If you instead choose to use your own domain, you'll need to contact us after purchasing so that we can set it up on your account.
-
Of course! There's no additional fee to upgrade (or downgrade) your package at any time. You can change your package via the client area, or simply log a ticket with our accounts department, and we'll make the switch for you.
-
We don't currently offer additional storage on individual plan levels. If you require additional storage, simply contact our support team to upgrade to the next plan level.
Alternatively, Invision Community has built-in support for Amazon S3, which provides additional remote storage on your current plan at prices suitable for most communities.
-
We only count dynamic page impressions from logged in members and from new guests visiting your community. Your page impressions quota will not be affected if a guest or bot accesses a cached page. Caching is the process of storing copies of your community in a temporary storage location (CDN) so that they can be accessed more quickly. Pages viewed by logged in members are never cached.
For example, if 100 members and 50 guests visit a new landing page, that's 150 impressions.
If any of those 50 guests visit that same landing page again while the CDN has page cached, it will not count as a new impression.
-
We block malicious and problematic bots at a network level, and these will not count towards your average. Genuine bots such as Google's web crawler are counted as half a visitor for the purposes of online user tracking.
-
Our network mitigates most DDoS attacks before they can impact your community. However, if your community becomes a frequent target of DDoS attacks, we may ask you to move to a self-hosted community in order to protect the integrity of our platform.
-
The software code cannot be modified on our Community in the Cloud packages. You can however download and install new themes, applications, hooks, languages and more, and install them via your administration control panel.
-
When you get close to your package limits, we'll contact you to let you know. If the average users in a 48 hour window exceeds your package limits, we'll automatically upgrade you to our next package level. IPS is here to help you grow your community and we will work with you, communicate, and help you transition along the way. You should never worry about being deactivated for just being a few users or posts over your package limits.
-
No - all of our standard Cloud packages run on a month-to-month basis.
-
You are always entitled to a backup of your data, however, software is not transferrable from our Community in the Cloud packages. To continue to make use of it outside of your Community in the Cloud package, you'll need to purchase a self-hosted license.
-
Your community data (including content and users) belongs exclusively to you. We employ industry-standard technology to keep it secure, and we never share it with third parties unless compelled to do so by law enforcement agencies.
-
Community in the Cloud plans do not currently include ElasticSearch searching, although Invision Community supports third-party ElasticSearch providers. This can be configured in the Admin Control Panel for your community.
Please note that server resource use is monitored separately to online users, and to protect the stability of our platform, accounts may be temporarily limited if they exceed those resource limits.
