I'll second your opinion. A lot of the time they act like it's a bother to answer support questions (Not everyone on staff there but certain ones) and they talk to you like you should know every line of code in the software. It's like they forget who matters and that's the customer. There's only two forum software support forums that I've dealt with that actually treat you like you matter and those two support forums are here and Flarum. I'm sure there are others but I've truly ever only dealt with 3. That's great you've had a good experience with xenForo there are some people that have a good experience but it's becoming more and more common that people have a bad experience with it. At the end of the day you just have to use what you're most comfortable with. I can say from having used xenForo and IC is that xenForo feels old and dated like how vBulletin feels. Whereas IC feels modern and less like a forum but more like a community.

There is nothing customized in the default theme.

So I'm curious as to why in the trending content widget block on my site some things are duplicated as seen in the screenshot. As you can see it has my name and the date twice on each item. Is there any way to get it to only show it once? Is this a bug or what?

Yeah @onlyME has already done this with their Active Viewers application. So maybe someone will take this up for self hosted customers.

I could be wrong but I don't think so. Certain features like that tend to only be available to cloud customers.

They are using the IC Cloud hosting which means they have no access to files or folders in Invision. It’s all handled for them.

But would they still need it if they’ve already converted their site to v4 or would the already redirected links quit working?

It’s my understanding and I may be wrong once you convert a site from other forum software ie xenForo, phpBB, etc you don’t really need them anymore so if you have already converted your site to Invision then you should be able to just update to v5. Again I could be wrong but since you said you’re going to be doing this on a test install first then there really is no harm to try it.

I think the reason the converters aren’t listed is because they haven’t been updated for v5 yet.

The best hosting would be their cloud option.

I recently purchased Invision Cloud and changed my DNS settings to what I was provided and days later I can't access my site. So I'm wondering if my settings are correct. Can someone please take a look and let me know and if something isn't right please let me know so I can fix it please.

While I do agree with you that self hosted is a great value especially considering now that you get all applications included. As far as the cost for cloud that is subjective and its value is dependent on what the customer thinks it’s worth. While it is costly some people can justify the cost by not having to worry about anything. They can focus their time and energy on growing their community and for some that peace of mind is priceless. I do wish it was cheaper no doubt but I’m in that group of wanting to just be able to worry about growing my community and not having to worry about hosting or anything like that. So again the worth is subjective to the individual.

I agree. So many people are using Sendgrid so it doesn't really make sense to remove it, but it's not up to us to decide that unfortunately.

Yeah something like their system. Developers post on there and when you go to purchase it directs you to the developers site. I think this was a big part of maybe why they did away with the marketplace here us because someone had to make sure all files were safe to install. If there is a disclaimer says IPS isn't responsible that takes the liability off of IPS and puts it on the developers. My whole thing is it's hard to truly find themes and applications now that the marketplace is gone. If said items could still be posted on here people could find things more easily. Will people still have to signup at multiple sites? Yes yes they will but when they could find things easier if there was a central location to advertise their products at. Might be worth someone looking into how in the past you had vbulletin.com for the forum software and vbulletin.org for all themes and addons.

I totally agree about hiding the non active ones. I’d almost say bring back the Marketplace but don’t have any files hosted here. Have it take you to the providers page to purchase or something. Would make finding things much much easier.

How long does it usually take to get the login details once you setup a trial of IC Cloud. My trial site is active and I can view it but I don’t have the login info to be able to play around in the Admin area.

This may sound crazy but I had to use 0.0.0.0 for the IP Address and under port number try 6379. Try that and see what happens.

What version are you using? If using 5.0 then it is enabled by default there will be icons at the bottom for light/dark/system preference mode.
