VAT / TAX, overlooked issue.
Seems like you are not actually looking for what I am looking for as you missed my offer. So I will withdraw that offer and get something custom made and paid fully by myself. To clarify, I mean it works for my specific tax liabilities, to make sure that I pay the correct amount of taxes. This statement was purely around paying the correct amount of VAT/Tax owed for my specific business on the basis that Stripe will have to be used for all transactions. And if all transactions are processed through Stripe, it does ensure that the correct amount of taxes are paid. So in the context of purely paying the correct taxes, that does work. Using Stripe for tax calculations is more accurate as they handle tax VAT/TAX rate updates automatically. Invision (excluding EU only) is completely manual tax inputs for each country. This in itself is an issue. In practice for my example both Invision rates need to be set to give customers the invoice through Invision, and Stripe used to accurately calculate VAT and taxes owed. I wouldn't personally reply just on the manual rates you insert into invision for actually calculating how much VAT and TAX you need to pay to governments. But your points does highlight several issues with Invision, I agree that they should and is which I was stating originally. Struggling because there is no such setting to achieve what I want to do. And what I want to achieve is what many businesses already do do (just not with Invison as far as I am aware, unless they have a custom solution) Maybe you are misunderstanding what I want to do. You state now that it works but previously stated in your other part of your message that you had some things you wanted to change, implying it doesn't work. I want to display one price, inclusive of any applicable taxes. Highlighting the word applicable. The business absorbs the applicable taxes. And a correct invoice is produced for the customer, depending on their location and if individual/customer or VAT registered, which creates a combination of different results. This isn't possible on Invision. Again it should be very simply for in-vision to add this. And I am unsure why it hasn't been requested for other global businesses (if it hasn't done so already):

Can it not be as simple as: Price displayed in store with applicable taxes. VAT/Tax settings are set up (same way they currently are, for the different rates for the different regions) Invoice shows: Total: total price paid the same as (Price displayed in store with applicable taxes.) Tax: the part of the total amount that constitutes tax, based on the rates chosen. This is just for displaying the invoice to the customer. The actual tax calculation (which is 100% correct) is done by stripe, no additional charges are added, it just calculates the tax owed on the amounts received. The issue may be, and I haven't researched into it fully, but just assuming. If I am a VAT registered business and charging VAT as standard, must I not legally give VAT invoices? So just selecting NO TAX, on the tax setting and omitting this information may not be good. I wish to have a singular price for consumers, but also display any applicable taxes paid for the customer so that they are aware. Also helps to let members know that not all of the payment is for the business and some goes to paying VAT so they are aware. @opentype if you are looking for the same sort of feature as me as above, I could check with one of the devs that we use what their cost is and perhaps we could split the cost of this custom plugin/application? If it is a reasonable cost to do.

What is owed and calculating VAT I am sure that the majority of forums that are using Invision are not affected by this, either because they do hit the VAT threshold (£90k for UK businesses, 85k€ for EU businesses, £0/0€ for offshore businesses selling to UK/EU) or they are unaware of their VAT/Tax requirements. But as soon as a business needs to register for VAT this affects them. Digital Services, as I am currently aware are VATable at the standard rate, 20% in UK, different percentage in Europe depending on the country of consumption. This amount of tax can easily be calculated through the stripe integration as far as I am aware, if I toggle the Stripe setting for that calculation on, at an additional 0.5%. Meaning that it is easy to calculate the amount of Tax owed but he amount of money received through Stripe. The amount of tax for US, depends on states, the thresholds, if they are a monetary threshold and/or a transaction threshold. Some states are tax free for some services, others are taxable depending on the limits. The issue is with how invoices are displayed in Invision. What I would like to do What I would like to achieve is a singular price for all customers/members, e.g. £10 per month. With any applicable Tax/VAT being absorbed by the business. There is no way to correctly do this and show the correct amount of tax paid on the Invision invoice? Invision has two settings. A system setting that can be toggled to include/exclude tax in the price. And an adjustable tax rates that can be added to a product/subscription (different rates can be added). Setting for tax included toggled ON. Tax rate on product/ subscription NOT ADDED. This would display no information about the tax on the Invision issued invoice. We can still collect and remit the correct amount of VAT as per the Stripe calculation above, but we would be unable to provide subscribers with a tax invoice breaking down VAT paid? Setting for tax included toggled OFF. Tax rate on product/ subscription NOT ADDED. Same as above. Setting for tax included toggled ON. Tax rate on product/ subscription ADDED. This increases the total price on the invoice, making it £12 not £10, on the example price. I would need to set the rate to £8.33, so that the rate paid is £10 when the tax is added, but the issue is then some customers would pay £8.33 if their countries VAT/TAX rate is 0% instead of £10 that they are supposed to. Setting for tax included toggled OFF. Tax rate on product/ subscription ADDED. This just changes the rate shown in the forum store. The actually invoice is the same as above, resulting in some members being able to lay £8.33 and see £10. What I would like to achieve, which should just be a normal business setting? There are no setting combinations to achieve this? I would like to achieve is a singular price for all customers/members, e.g. £10 per month. With any applicable Tax/VAT being absorbed by the business. But still to show the customer the amount of VAT specific to their purchase. It should be very easy to active, all you do is have X as the price that is displayed to all, and the VAT/TAX part of the invoice that includes the value based on the % of VAT setting chosen, deducing it instead of adding it. In conclusion all I want is a simple price for all customers, and we as a business absorb any necessary and applicable taxes as a business expense. Therefore treating all individual customers equally. Is there no way of doing this? Surely there has to be and I am just missing it?

Thanks. How would I go about setting up my current Invision instance as the master/server so members can login to other services/websites using OAuth, with their login credentials for my current forum? Looking under OAuth within the admin side, looks like that is just to set it up for other Oauth services to log into my current forum but not the other way around. And is there a way to limit the login on other services by specific member groups? Many thanks in advance

I currently have a v4 invision community. Let's call this community A for example. If I set up a new v4 (community B) (as v5 isn't released yet) invision community and use my existing v4 community A as the master oAuth login server, and then the new invision community B members can login with their pre-existing community A login. My question is, if I upgrade community B to v5 at release, but keep my community A as v4, will that still work fine with the logins on the new community? I do not wish to upgrade my old community as too many plugins and applications but would like an additional forum where they can login with their existing login. I presume upgrade from v4 to v5 will be absolutely fine.

This plugin only just stopped working completely for me after the update to the latest version of invision. I am currently using version 1.0.8 though it says it was updated to '2.0.1.1 Beta' on 22/05/23 but never upgraded to that as the link is broken from the AdminCP. Any idea where I can find the latest version of this plugin and if it is still supported by the author, not sure if this is or isn't them: @Catzwolf Many thanks in advance

How to get messages from the rest API?
And do you know if version 5 of invision will have this API enabled by default? I presume there is some sort of reason why it was never added? There is get topics but not get messages, from a users perspective it is so weird to have missed that crucial thing.

Is it possible to add it please? Otherwise there is no real use of the API to build an app with. Not sure on any benefit of sending/deleting messages from an app when can’t read the existing ones. I am looking on creating a specific messaging app linked to my invision forum.

Sure if you can start a private conversation or email please I can share the screenshots etc as I do not wish to post public links to my forum, thanks 🙂 Oh, so just to confirm it is only users who aren't logged in who can experience that? All users that are logged in would not experience a delay when a post is posted and from when they see it? (other than any normal minimal ms second delay to/from the server)

Sever propagating really slowly (posts taking 10+ mins to show?)
I am currently in Asia. I made a post 6 mins ago, gave the link to that direct post (edit, now checked 10mins later and still not showing on their side). The person in the UK are unable to see the post yet. Surely there should not be that much of a delay in posts? I have noticed this before also. I also have screenshot evidence of this This could create a lot of issues, specifically in timed auction topics.

Just happened again for me, had to fill out 2 captchas in a row when clicking a link on my forum and opening up in a separate tab, around 14:41. Shouldn't it track cookies/IP address and not do that? Especially as I was also logged in as Admin at the time. It is in a general browser not a private one. Sure, would be good if mainly people didn't see. But when people do see, I still think it looks very dodgy like the user has clicked onto a 3rd party website which will result in a high % of abandonment of the website/page IMO. Making it within a theme wrapper as another user suggested would be good idea if feasible IMO.

But it did come up Though thank you for fixing it now. And I agree with this exactly. Even I thought the same about my own website and had to double check the URL to be sure. The look and feel of it diminish the credibility of the site completely, even if most users will not see it, for the time that it does come up it would be nice if it could be better integrated so the design didn't look so dodgy. Thank you for linking to that. Hopefully it can be Improved (the design of the captcha as looks dodgy from users perspective) Will see if it keeps happening for users. I ran into it myself multiple times so far today but have never seen it before, despite using a VPN all the time (and topic above was from August 2023)

It is happening regularly now for users. It also degrades the credibility as it looks like have accidentally gone onto a spam website / clicked on the wrong link due to the way the captcha is designed and looks. Does it show to all users, if so is there a way to disable that? Kind of annoying to have to go to that step to visit a website. Also means google bots etc can't crawl my website anymore and will affecting page rankings?

Invision Community does not support all iPhone IOS images
Previously this could be fixed by changing the settings on the iPhone under Settings > Camera > Formats from High Efficiency to Most Compatible (although not idea as HF is the default setting) this work around however does not fix all images. And sometimes when a user takes a photo and uploads it, they will see a black image. They can send this image to themselves on telegram for example and then download and then re-uppload, this uploads it as a jpeg, but some quality is lost. Is it possible for Invision Community to natively support direct images that are uploaded from iPhone 15 and later in Most Compatible most and ideally also High Efficiency mode also? To confirm this is happening only sometimes and not on all photos.

InterMedia - Dawid Pieron (aka DawPi)
I have worked with DawPi a lot over many projects, and whilst his prices are more expensive than some developers that we previously used he is extremely quick to reply to messages, very responsive and works quickly to complete all the tasks at hand. I will add that some of the previous developers although also very good, sometimes took weeks or months to get back to me. DawPi replies to all messages that I have sent within the same day. 🙂 He is a very proficient developer for Invision Community forums and I have no hesitation to recommend him for any custom applications/plugin work that you need.
