Jim, I have gained a tremendous deal of needed knowledge in regard to this process. I am very thankful for the time you took to bring me to the point I'm at. I have no further questions. You have covered it 100%. Actually, that's not entirely true. I had a black bar that came across the lower part of my monitor in regards to this message asking me if I wanted to see this message. I have never had that before. Is it by chance a function within the InVision community, on your end? It is controlled by something I might have done. I love the feature. Now I Got it. But what makes it execute? What is the error code telling me? So then If I put the ips4.php file into the public_html folder it runs somehow automatically and creates the file php_errorlog file. If all is OK will I still find the php_errorlog file? Will it be blank or have a message similar to Good to go? Bob

I did go into Public_html and found php_errorlog. Thanks for the replay. I uploaded the IPS4.php file to the public_html folder, which also holds the files and folders from the ips_51de8 file. I don't know how to execute it and how to see the resulting facts. Bob

I can't find the program for checking when installing a new ISP_51de8. Also, the instructions are a bit vag. Do I need to set up a database, or is it done within the program? Here is what I have done so far I have Installed PHP 8.2.3. It does have MSQL not sure of the version. My host is SiteGround, self-host. I moved the files from the ISP_51de8 folder into the folder public_html. I then get an error when logging into www.home2000.com, 404. Is there anything I have to edit in any files? Do I need to create database files? Lastly, I would like to have the check file and knowledge on using it. The documentation in the manual was a bit confusing to me. Bob

Would public_html/OLD qualify as a subfolder for WordPress, and Public_html/Invision qualify as the root for Invision? Bob

I'm installing the current version of Invision Community, at least trying. I am trying to move my cloud-based, posted by InVision, to my self-posted site. It is a brand-new site I just started using. My current site is www.home2000.com. My new site, which is hosted by Bluehost, has a different URL, www.amerifaxx.com. Note: my email address is amerifax@gmail.com, 1-x, and my new site has a URL www.amerifaxx.com, 2-x's. I note this just in case. I chatted with Bluehost yesterday about temporarily turning off WordPress, so it would not interfere with my InVision Community functions. Here is what they did: Created a folder called OLD and moved the following folders into the new folder. Folders - cgi-bin, wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes Files - Also in the root of the folder called OLD: many files wp-*.php and one each of the following, error_log, index.php, read me.HTML, license.txt, XMLRPC.php Now when I go into my self-hosted site, www.amerifaxx.com, I see a blank white page with the text BN test in the upper left corner. I should also mention two days ago, before Bluehost action yesterday; I downloaded the file ips_51de8 from Invision Community. I then extracted the files on my computer and used cPanel to move the files to my new self-hosted www.amerifaxx.com. The result is I now have a folder called ips_51de8 directly under public_html. I have canceled my current site, www.home2000.com, which is in use till the month expires. It does not matter to me how I install my new site, move my cloud-hosted from www.home2000.com or install a completely new Invision Community at www.amerifaxx.com. I want the fastest and easiest way to do it. I only have one license for self-hosting. And I do have www.home2000.com still up. So I was going to try and save the information if possible. But that is not really that important since I never had it running. So here is my second dilemma stepped off of one before I could step on the other. I hope I explained myself well here. I have given it some thought. And lastly, my cloud-hosted site is www.home2000.com. I was hoping that my new www.amerifaxx.com, which I purchased the URL from Bluehost. So how do I make my ips_51de8 realize this? Bob

All the above was an excellent but disappointing help. Not to your fault but rather my limited understanding of what I was doing. I have to rethink what I'm doing. I planned to use messages, and topics, as a base for information. I did some testing about ten years ago, and it seems I was on the right track. I know this probably sounds confusing, but at the time, it seemed to me a very logical support base for what I would do. I planned to use Invasion Community as if it was the same as Microsoft-Onenote. Basically, using links, the same way links are used within Onenote as a very defined navigation system. My system is dependent on some type of menu system that fits into my custom approach to sales and marketing information. I'm including an image of what was to be the front end of my system. It is 12 years old and many changes are being made. Bob

While cruising around this website, I discovered Home-My Attachments. I noticed many images that I used in the past. This would have been a previous attempt to set up and use an Invision website. The website would not have been in the clouds but rather a different host. Since I saw these images, it got me thinking that you might have some kind of backup for this previous site. If I had it stored on an old hard drive is it possible that there might have been a unique file name or extension? Here's hoping. Bob

I'm using a product called Directory-Opus instead of Microsoft Edge for my FTP. I tried using my domain name with no luck until I used the URL presented as numbers, for a different website. I'm including an image I'm filling out to complete this task. Bob

Why? WOW got it to show Sub, but. I deleted "New Homes" and the image changed to see second image, stacked forums. I'm almost there. Can I get ride of "Pickle" instead of "New Home". I think my solution is dependent on "New Home". If so why? Can you explain to me what actually took place. Bob In other words I think I know what I'm doing but I don't know why.

So than Comedy & Tragedy is not my Pickle, right? Then what is Comedy & Tragedy if not a category. Or are we looking at two categories been involved here. Media & Entertainment Comedy & Tragedy If that is the case how do my forums fit into this so I end up with a display as you see here. This is how I created my Category and Forums: Step-1 Start - AdminPC Forum - Which is empty as no Forums have been created yet. Forum - Create new Forum Settings - Category Name is Pickle Type - Category Parent Form - Nothing is Selected Save Save Step-2 Select - Select Plus-Add Forum-Display Settings-Default Sort Order-Title (Also tried "Recently Updated"). Step-2 - Return to Forum Settings Forum Settings- Name "New Homes" Forum Settings-Description "New Homes of Wisconsin" Forum Settings-Type-Discussions Forum Settings-Parent Forum "Pickles" Save Save Now I select Visit Site. See included image "Pickle-NewHome.png" Step-3 Now I open up Forum Settings and the following is displayed: Pickle as Category & New Home as Forum. New Home is displayed as Forum ( New Homes is indented under Pickle). I now repeat Step-2 for Builder. So now I include image "Pickle-New Home-Builder.png" What I'm looking is like the following: Pickle (Category) New Home Builder (The 2 forums of the category). Bob

After two days I need a rest. I have worked solid to get the site to look like Comedy & Tragedy as seen above. Even changed the name of category to Pickles. Changed options and moved forums around. No matter what I did I could not duplicate the appearance I want. There must be a setting some where I'm missing. Bob

Does the forum look at: New Home... and New Home as the same when adding the "..." at end of line. Bob

Randy - Did not work. The Category is New Homes... - Type Category and no parent. the forums use New Homes... as the parent and also Type Discussions. Note: the difference of New Homes (...) which is the category. Parent Category - New Homes... Forums that use New Home... as Parent New Homes-Models-Specs Homes (Also Type Discussions) Bob
