I created a forum where guests have the ability to see, read, and reply to topics but when I am testing it out, the site does not show their reply without moderator approval. I have looked everywhere and I don't see where I change this permission.

I also want them to be able to vote in a poll along with replying but it appears guests aren't allowed to do that without registering.

When editing the Guests Group, under the Content tab enable the permission that says: Bypass content moderation? That should do the trick.

I think for this you will need a custom app.

I enabled the Bypass content moderation for the guest group (on the content tab) and the replies are still going to moderation.

Guests are still not allowed to reply without post approval

Where exactly are guests replying that is going into moderation? Do you have an example I could look at?

@Marc

Here is an example of what shows up in the moderator CP.

I have tried posting as a guest and it doesn't appear to matter what is typed in the reply it always goes to moderation for approval.

Is this a forum? Unclear where exactly it is still, I'm afraid.

To confirm again, is this unchecked/disabled? ACP -> Members -> Groups -> edit guests -> Content tab -> Require approval before content shows?

@Jim M

I have recently created a specific forum where readers of my newsletter who are "guests" would be able to answer some fun questions to build a sense of community. After I created the forum I tried testing it out and realized that it wasn't letting guests post without moderator approval. I can't find where my settings are off.

ACP -> Members -> Groups -> edit guests -> Content tab -> Require approval before content shows? Is unchecked (see screenshot below)

Members > Groups > [specific] Group (Guests) > Permissions > Reply to Topics Is Checked (see screenshot below)

Community > Forums > [specific] Forum > Permissions > Posts must be approved? is unchecked (see screenshot below)

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.
