About a week ago, we performed a test installation, and everything upgraded smoothly. Since then, I’ve been exploring the software, configuring customizations, and thoroughly enjoying it.

However, today we attempted to upgrade to Version 5, and the process keeps crashing our web server. We’re unable to determine why the test installation—on the same database and with identical specifications—worked perfectly, yet the upgrade is now failing.

My technician is still troubleshooting but has had no success so far. Is there any specific information I can provide from him that would help diagnose the issue?

We have been loyal customers for decades, and this situation is extremely frustrating. I really wish we still had the ability to raise support tickets, especially given that we continue to pay the same fees as before.

Apologies for my frustration, but this is an urgent issue.

Please help!

To address first of all the support situation. You are still receiving exactly the same support. Im here :)

In the case of this one, its unfortunately something that your hosting company will need to figure out here. If your server is crashing entirely, there is nothing in the software that can, nor even should be able to do that. If there are errors being thrown etc, that you can provide, then of course we may be able to advise on those. But if the server itself is dying on upgrade, there is only your host that is going to be able to resolve that unfortunately.

He is still working on it and we will contact our host.

Our Test Site is working on the now week old Database.

My tech skills in this department are limited and i haven't spoken to my tech guy but worst case scenario is it possible to make the Test Install the main site? Sure we would have lost a weeks worth of data but that is better than nothing.

Sure. You would just move the files to your live location, and change the URL in your conf_global.php (Assuming there that the database is staying in place). I would say however, it would be good to find out what is going wrong so it doesnt cause you any issues going forward

It's hard to say without knowing the error messages that the system throws when crashed.
