Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted October 10, 20231 yr I have at least one user who claims to not be able to get past the first page of any thread. In fact, I just tried my own user account and I seem to be experiencing the same. Has anyone dealt with this before? I have reset the users password, cleared cache, and the problem persists. I am running Invision Community v4.7.13. In the support section, I show 0 critical issues. I appreciate the help. Shane
October 10, 20231 yr https://www.minimatemultiverse.com/ Default theme It's likely affecting Chrome users more, I suspect. First things first...while you are using https there in the URL, your site is not being served up as http Check your conf_global.php, specifically the base_url value - if it is http:// then change it to https://, then clear your cache via the support tool in the ACP. October 10, 20231 yr Author It is effecting Chrome users mostly. I am hosted by GoDaddy and while I find their tools easy to use, I cannot find the conf_global.php section. Is this something you can help me narrow down? I truly appreciate this help. The ACP part I know well.
October 10, 20231 yr Solution Is this something you can help me narrow down? It's a file in the root of your Invision installation.
October 10, 20231 yr Community Expert I still haven't found conf_global and I think this is my root. Looks like you're in a folder called "config". The conf_global.php would be in the folder where you installed our software.
October 10, 20231 yr Author That might be my problem. I didn't originally load the software, so I don't have first hand knowledge of its file structure. I have been maintaining the site for years, but I suppose this is the first time I have had to track down a file like this. I am in IT, so I know this sounds bothersome and lazy, but its not my field.
October 10, 20231 yr Based on that screenshot and the visible folders, public_html is your root. Highlight it, there are folders plus files in it. Edited October 10, 20231 yr by Nathan Explosion
October 10, 20231 yr Community Expert Scroll down that list on the right. You should find the conf_global.php file after the folders.
October 10, 20231 yr Community Expert That's the right location. Make sure to make a backup of the file first before you edit it though.
October 17, 20231 yr Author Okay folks. Updating the conf_global file seems to have fixed the issue. I really appreciate the input from each of you. I also appreciate the patience as I learn this new (to me) system. Thank you all!
