Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Thomas Hop Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Hello, We got a question / problem with the “?do=getNewComment” functionality. We noticed that for specific topics this method seems to be a bit broken. For example this topic gets this URL: https://test.higherlevel.nl/forums/topic/3090-verzameltopic-zoekmachine-optimalisatie-seo/page/2/#comment-589938 There are 2 things wrong here: This is not the page I left and I can't get it to redirect me to another page. Also the comment with the pid “589938” isn’t on this page, it is in fact that last comment which is on page 41. This only seems to happened when the boards is set to the type of “Question” whenever it is changed back to “Discussion” it seems to be resolved. These problems appear even with all customization disabled. Could you help us solve this problem? All login credentials are still the same, if you need them again let me know. Thanks in advance. Kind Regards, Thomas
Marc Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Please ensure the htaccess details on file are up to date, as they dont seem to be working at present
Thomas Hop Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 We got the .htpasswd for the test environment credentials in the notes, just checked and they seem to work.
Thomas Hop Posted May 3, 2022 Author Posted May 3, 2022 Hello Marc, Have you had time to check if you are able to get into our test environment?
Marc Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I am on your test instance at present, but its not clear where you are actually getting that link from? Is this the link on the main forum page?
Thomas Hop Posted May 3, 2022 Author Posted May 3, 2022 It is on a few places, this method is used: href='{$row->url( 'getNewComment' )}'
Marc Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.
Thomas Hop Posted July 21, 2022 Author Posted July 21, 2022 Hello Marc, Is the problem still on the agenda? We just tested the problem in 4.7, but it is still present. Thanks in advance.
Marc Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Hi Thomas. My colleague and I have been looking at the bug report this morning. The issue here is that getnewcomment is not actually used on Q&A type forums. So its actually working as intended. The reason is, they may well be more than one in different places in the topic, as they aren't chronological in order. My colleague has put forward a suggestion for these for the future, so we can improve this, but at present this is working as intended. Thomas Hop 1
teraßyte Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Until IPS changes how Q&A forums work you can use this plugin in case ordering by votes is not required: Marc, Thomas Hop and SeNioR- 2 1
