Looking for a setting/plugin to allow us to force registration before viewing threads. Does anything exist?

You can do this one of 2 ways. You can switch off the site entirely to guests, so they have to log in. To do that, go to the guest group and edit, then switch off "can access site".

Alternatively you can change the permissions on your forums to remove guest access

Thanks @Marc Stridgen. Is there a "softer" way of doing it? For example, by allowing users to view 1-2 posts and then promoting them to register? Does switching off guest access also have any implications on SEO?

I noticed @Jordan Miller has something similar on his site?
