Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted September 27, 20204 yr Had a member tell me they could not get the sign up page to work but their friend could from outside of China. A bit of digging shows that ReCaptcha (google based) may be blocked preventing anyone in China from getting past the sign-up page if it is used (including the invisible flavor which we use). Thoughts? @bfarber curious your thought on a fix in the core suite. September 28, 20204 yr The only "fix" would be to disable reCAPTCHA on your site. We can't control which services the Chinese government allows or disallows of course 🙂
September 28, 20204 yr We can't control which services the Chinese government allows or disallows of course 🙂 From the links provided and looking at Google's developer docs, it looks like there is a noted workaround. Using www.recaptcha.net instead of www.google.com as the domain: https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/faq#can-i-use-recaptcha-globally Taking a peek under the hood, it looks like IPS is hardcoding the domain.
