Colonel_mortis Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 It's only accessible to people who have contributed content to the Marketplace. I'm not quite sure why they insist on only giving contributors access to the details about breaking changes (of which that is not one, but there have been others that have only been documented there), but it is intentional.
Square Wheels Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 Ahh, OK. I would have thought they could detect if I am a contributor and not show me the link. Most people who use this site are not contributors.
Aiwa Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 IPS has done well letting contributors know about changes that may impact mods. As is the case here. Gives us a heads up and where to look to enact a compatibility change for the latest release. In this case, it only affects IN_DEV environments, and is not relevant to the average client.

To contributors update their stuff and update their submissions on Marketplace when the new version is released. Quite simple. I can't imagine why a "user", for example, would be interested to know in changes made to \IPS\Log. Do you?
Colonel_mortis Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Just now, Adriano Faria said: Not sure? I can't imagine why a "user", for example, would be interested to know in changes made to \IPS\Log. Do you? A regular user, no. But most of the stuff that I do with the IPS framework is not related to the marketplace at all, and putting things on the marketplace is just an afterthought. There are developers who don't publish anything to the marketplace at all (and instead just work on their personal site or are contracted by a site owner), who are affected by the changes, but can't access the useful change notes.
chivitli Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I confirm what @Colonel_mortis wrote, that is exactly my case, I make IPS apps for my private use. I've no idea why IPS restricts me to see breaking changes, and I am forced to go through code comparison to see if and how I am affected.
Adriano Faria Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Well, that forum IS for IPS contributors, not PRIVATE developrs. There's a market here and that's the reason of that forum. There has critical information about resources, clients, etc. Things that has nothing to do with a NON developer to the IPS marketplace. It's enough to IPS move/submit those topics in the public forum and bingo... Everybody is happy. Life goes on. https://invisionpower.com/forums/forum/504-ips-development-gateway/
Simon Woods Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 @Colonel_mortis @chivitli has this been brought up anywhere else on the Community? It seems like this is definitely worth discussing.

Simon Woods Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Excellent! Now I think this thread has been sorted, all answered appropriately and everything?
