Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
ProSkill Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I want to add a menu item that links to an external site. I've seen several tutorial but they all appear very old and don't work with the current version. There has got to be an easier way to do this, than paying 40 for the Pro Menu mod. Thanks
Ahmad E. Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 What do you mean by menu item?Do you mean a link on the navbar?Which version do you use, 3.4.7?Do you use a custom theme or the default one?If you'd like I can do this for you aswell, just send me a PM with access to the Look&Feel section. Will add a test link and tell you where to edit it.
Andrej Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Admin CP -> System -> Settings -> General Configuration -> Add a custom link to navigation bar?If you need to add more than one link, you have to edit the templates in Customization -> Themes -> Edit CSS/HTML.
ProSkill Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Wow thanks for the quick response guys. I meant on the Nav bar I am using IPB 3.4.7 and the Pulse 2.4.5 theme. Andrej that worked, however is there a way to set the order? In other words I'd like it to be the last menu item and not the first menu item.
Andrej Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Oh, the solution I gave above is for 4.0, not 3.4.7. You posted in the wrong forum.
Ahmad E. Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 You'll have to go through the manual way aka template editor in IPB 3.4.7I don't have the theme so I'd need to take a look at my own.If you'd like you can send me an account which has access to the Look&Feel section, I'll be here for other 10minutes I guess.

barney2229 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I know this topic is a little old but I added a link to an external site. Do you still want or need to do this? Do you have a particular theme? I only had to add a couple lines of code
Tracy Perry Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I know this topic is a little old but I added a link to an external site. Do you still want or need to do this? Do you have a particular theme? I only had to add a couple lines of codeDon't know about him.. but I do. But what I'm also wanting it to do is be based upon permissions (actually visible to certain groups).Even if I could just get the initial edit from you and what template it goes in would help.
demoneyezer Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I guess you guys are looking for this : https://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/7391-additional-links-in-navigation-bar/ Support topic can be found here : https://community.invisionpower.com/topic/409404-additional-links-in-navigation-bar/ I have this installed on a test board of mine. You can set up to 5 links but unfortunately you cannot set group permissions (yet)...
Tracy Perry Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 I just ended up buying IP.Content. Needed it for the menu, but figure I'll eventually find a use for it also.
