Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Clickfinity Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I've been so busy settling my forums down after upgrading from vB that I've only just got around to looking at multi-moderation. What a great idea, and one that I think will make my moderators quite happy ... Just wanted to post that. Cheers, Shaun :D
Wolfie Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 It can be a life saver, especially when you have certain actions that need to be done repeatedly on multiple posts/topics. The pre-made posts is a big one, as it lets the readers know what's going on and why a certain action (if any) was taken. :)
ahard Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I actually don't understand this thing even after reading the manual  Can anybody help me to understand it ? Thanks
Collin S. Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I actually don't understand this thing even after reading the manual  Can anybody help me to understand it ? Thanks Multi-Moderation is a feature that allows multiple actions to be taken upon one click. For example, here at IPS, there is a multi-moderation called "Topic Resolved" When a staff member clicks that multi-moderation option, the topic is locked, the title is edited to say [RESOLVED] and a post is added to the topic saying it is now resolved. Instead of us having to do all of those ourselves, Multi-Moderation speeds up the process.

Yesterday I want to change 1 setting in forum which is 'number of post to view' from 0 to 1. because I have 50 forums, I have to manually change it one-by-one. Does this multi-moderation can solve this ? Thanks
Wolfie Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Yesterday I want to change 1 setting in forum which is 'number of post to view' from 0 to 1. because I have 50 forums, I have to manually change it one-by-one. Does this multi-moderation can solve this ? No, it only performs moderator functions, but does multiple functions in one, thus it being called Multi Moderation. Let's say you have a set of forums for TV shows and sometimes people post topics that are duplicate of other topics that are still active. You decide to close it, but you also decide to put a post in there to say WHY it's being closed and at the same time you decide to change the title of the topic to say "[DUPLICATE]" at the beginning. You would create a multimod that would add that tag to the front of the topic, close the topic and add a post saying that it's a duplicate of another topic and to use that other topic to continue the discussion. You just used two, maybe three clicks to do what would have normally taken several clicks, not to mention typing in the post. Multiply that by about 20 topics a week and I'm sure you can see the usefulness of it. You might have a set of fan forums for a select group of celebs and have a problem where people start topics related to one person but inside of the wrong forum (say a topic about Daniel Radcliffe inside of an Emma Watson forum). You could have a multimod that just simply moves the topic to the proper forum and leaves a link to the new location. That then saves you the effort of clicking to move it, then selecting the new location, to leave a link and then submitting it. Just dropdown the multimod menu, click the action to move it to the right place, click the submit button and it's done. You could even have it add "[MOVED]" to the end of the topic so that someone knows it was moved from a different forum first.

I think IPB manual need example like this to be understood by people who aren't tech savy ;) Thanks
