Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
3DKiwi Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 As the title says why does the "Click to attach files" button need pressing twice to do anything? I've noticed this occurs here and at my site where we both allow the Flash file uploader to be used. Pressing it once in most cases does nothing except you get a message saying "Transferring data from yoursite.com" on the bottom status bar and nothing ever happens. You have to press a second time to bring up the file manager. Anyone else notice this? Bug perhaps? I'm using Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6. Thanks 3DKiwi
Rikki Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 The advanced uploader uses Flash; the first click gives focus to the Flash movie, and the second actually clicks the button. I'm not sure if there's a way around that to be honest.

Thanks 3DKiwi I guess it's your operating system, doesn't happen for me (using Firefox).
Swiftie Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Using Chrome and it's a single click for myself aswell.
bfarber Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Yes, this is a flash limitation due to security restrictions they imposed a year or two ago. I think most browsers have since "worked around" the limitations to some extent, but it's not something we can much about programatically last I knew.
Mat Barrie Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I don't have this issue using IE8 on Windows 7. Maybe it's your browser?
Noles Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Doesn't happen with Firefox 3.6.3 either (using Windows 7).
Calvin39 Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 It does happen with Firefox 3.6.3 for me as well using Windows 7.
