Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
TCWT Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Thought I'll make a new topic as Brandon suggested. :D 1. Show how many users (Members, Guests) browsing each forum (like vB) 2. On the bottom of topic view, "X users are viewing ..." when you hover your mouse over a member's name, show the page number the member is viewing and maybe the IP as well on the tooltip. 3. A more detailed Online List, show which profile the member is viewing, etc.. 4. Link to unsubsubscribe from topic in the notification emails and unsubscribe link in topic view. 5. Ability to merge members. 6. And lastly, a feature I really want to see. Create a new topic at a scheduled time. This will allow you to write a topic and have it posted on the board at the specified time. I can imagine how this may be handy for a lot of boards.
Guest Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 +1, +1, but it should be in a separate page, like the "Who's Online" in #3. Big tooltips are ugly. +1, +1, +1, and...+1.
TCWT Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 +1, but it should be in a separate page, like the "Who's Online" in #3. Big tooltips are ugly. Better if it's in topic view, don't have to go to another page to see the page # the member is viewing...
Digi Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 A feature to CREATE a new topic at a scheduled time. This will allow you to write a topic and have it posted on the board at the specified time. I can imagine how this may be handy for a lot of boards. You mean like the one that already exists? Some suggestions I'd like to see. 1. Show how many users (Members, Guests) browsing each forum (like vB) Doesn't this exist? In fact, you referenced its counterpart in #23. A more detailed Online List, show which profile the member is viewing, etc.. Wasn't this left out of privacy reasons?4. Link to unsubsubscribe from topic in the notification emails and unsubscribe link in topic view. It would be nice if the board logically knew that you were already subscribed rather than throwing an error upon clicking "subscribe". 2 new options, one to edit the subscription and one to unsubscribe, should become available if a user is already subscribed. Of course, this means yet another query... Is it really worth it?
Guest Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Wasn't this left out of privacy reasons? I don't think so... As much as I hate comparing the two, vB has it, so it can't be that dangerous.
Digi Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I specifically remember the topics about this though. I would post links if I could find it, but privacy was definitely a major issue at the time.
TCWT Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 You mean like the one that already exists? No, I knew others may think it's already a feature. The one now is to open an EXISTING topic at a specific date and time, not CREATE a new topic.Doesn't this exist? In fact, you referenced its counterpart in #2 No, I forgot to mention show it on index view, next to the forum name.Wasn't this left out of privacy reasons? Not sure but it shouldn't be a concern as it shows who visited a member's profile anyway. Besides, why not make it visible to admins?
Digi Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 No, I knew others may think it's already a feature. The one now is to open an EXISTING topic at a specific date and time, not CREATE a new topic. What do you mean? I get the following when creating a topic:Specify Topic Open Time (Optional) MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM Specify Topic Close Time (Optional) MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM I believe you get the same if you edit the topic, so you could do it for an existing one as well, but you can do this on topic creation regardless. Maybe I am misunderstanding you request.
TCWT Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 No, if you do it that way the topic will be visible and already posted. Think of it as a scheduler to CREATE a new topic at a specific time and date for the first time, not OPEN a locked topic. I emphasized CREATE numerous times, is it really that confusing?
Digi Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Oh, my bad. Open/close. I'm retarded, never mind :P I agree with you, this can be done for announcements, why not topics. :duh:
Jaggi Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Oh, my bad. Open/close. I'm retarded, never mind :P I agree with you, this can be done for announcements, why not topics. :duh: hehe i have a new sig :P.
Digi Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Eh, we all make mistakes. At least I'm man enough to admit it ;)
Millar Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I specifically remember the topics about this though. I would post links if I could find it, but privacy was definitely a major issue at the time. But surely now users can view which members have recently viewed anothers profile, it wouldn't hurt to tell you if they were currently doing so?
Jaggi Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Eh, we all make mistakes. At least I'm man enough to admit it ;) nothing to do wiv being right or wrong digi, i just like it when people call themselves things, in your case retarded :P. I ain't another bash flamer just found it funny :P.
TrixieTang Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Thought I'll make a new topic as Brandon suggested. :D 1. Show how many users (Members, Guests) browsing each forum (like vB) I used vB for over a year, and really, I don't care for this. ^^;;;2. On the bottom of topic view, "X users are viewing ..." when you hover your mouse over a member's name, show the page number the member is viewing and maybe the IP as well on the tooltip. Don't see much point other than spying on others.3. A more detailed Online List, show which profile the member is viewing, etc.. Yeah, I heard it was left out for privacy reasons, but I think admins should be able to see more detailed info, including the exact location, file/path like in vB for added security. I really don't think members should see more than they currently do though.4. Link to unsubsubscribe from topic in the notification emails and unsubscribe link in topic view. + one. I also think that thread subscriptions should be easier to manage, current area in the User CP is pretty ugly.5. Ability to merge members. One of the most needed features.6. And lastly, a feature I really want to see. Create a new topic at a scheduled time. This will allow you to write a topic and have it posted on the board at the specified time. I can imagine how this may be handy for a lot of boards. I see how this could be useful, so... plus 1.
Coca-Cola Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Thought I'll make a new topic as Brandon suggested. :D 1. Show how many users (Members, Guests) browsing each forum (like vB) +5
Amy T Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I agree with the poster above me Specially number 3.
IBTheme Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 1. Show how many users (Members, Guests) browsing each forum (like vB) 2. This will allow you to write a topic and have it posted on the board at the specified time. I can imagine how this may be handy for a lot of boards. 1. +1 From Me Too! 2. +1 From Me Too! 3. +1 From Me Too! 4. +1 From Me Too! 5. +1 From Me Too! 6. +1 From Me Too! <--- Especially this one!!!Great Suggestions!!!
Jυra Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I think member merging is a must and admins seeing more specific stuff of what guests/members are viewing would be good too. The rest sounds neat and all but I can't say I'd use it much.
