  2. Thank you for your reply Gary. I will study the e-mail guide. Could you please also address the recurring system log entries? Thanks!

  4. Thanks, we are running PHP 8.1.31 and no issues reported. Considering the IPB software, is there a better choice between PHP and SMTP e-mail? Could you explain the difference? We are also experiencing repeated log entries with recommended checking in the ACP. Find a solution × Reoccurring system log entries may be indicative of a problem that should be addressed. A summary of the top reoccurring recent log entries are shown below. Review the system log for further details. Message Count No range requested, sending entire file 160 Range response initiated 159 Is this an IPB issue, or a server issue? Sorry to have so many questions.

  6. Thanks, Mark. When I look into our cpanel under PHPMyAdmin, it shows our site is at PHP 8.1. However in the image above, it states the web server is at PHP 8.3.14. Is this an issue? We continue to have problems with our outgoing/incoming e-mail. One server tech suggested we switch from PHP to SMTP. There are several settings in SMTP and I don't know what information is needed. The tech suggested we use a server type address, but where might that go, under host? Could you tell me how to fill out these fields, or should we continue with the PHP setting. Thanks for you help and patience.

  9. Thanks for your help, somehow I fixed it myself. Under files 'Storage Settings', Attachments, the path was from the old configuration and when I switched it to the new, it immediately worked. Thanks again.
  10. I just found something very interesting. Under the screenshots directory, there was a folder for 12/24, so I opened this folder. There I found listed the images I had tried to upload into texts. I clicked on each one using the 'view' setting and the images were indeed there, so they are actually uploaded. For some reason, when attaching them we get the error message 'there was a problem uploading the file'. I had also tried to attach a zip file; it might be in one of the other directories. The permissions for these image files is 0644.
  11. Jim, I have found the files and folder you mentioned in the cpanel. They are under our home directory/public_html/forums. The permissions for public_html is set for 0750. The directories applications, data store, plugins and uploads/subfolders are set at 0755. Files are set at 0644. Thanks so much for trying to help.
  12. Thank you Rastafari, I will check on this. Jim, thanks so much for your reply. I forwarded this info to the server team. Their response: I really appreciate the help.

  14. We have had an IPB license and maintained upgrades for over 18 years. Our site started very small, but has grown so that we had to upgrade our server plan and was migrated to another server with more space. Our site was running smoothly on our old server. The new server is running a different operating system than the old one, and we are now having issues. The server migration and tech support teams have been working for weeks now to try and figure out the problem, but have exhausted their efforts. They have recommended we contact IPB to see if you can help. The files on both servers have been re-synced multiple times. The main problems are: 1) We are unable to attach files/images, or download file/simages from within the forum area. We have an IPB Download app that is functioning smoothly; we can upload and download using the app. 2) Our internal e-mail is working sporadically. The validating e-mail to or from new registering members is mostly not working. 3) No errors are being logged when attaching or downloading fails, or when e-mails fail. The e-mail client is empty. The host checked all site permission settings to sync with server settings. The MySQL was upgraded from V5.? to V8, but the problems persist. I'm attaching a screen from the host tech support. We've been using IPB for almost 2 decades and we really need your help.
  15. Oh, wow, that was easy. Thanks so much.
  16. Thanks so much for replying. Where could I find the setting to change to the dark default ACP theme?
  17. How do you change the theme in the ACP?
  18. OK, found it just as you were replying. Thanks for your help.
  19. I am not seeing the page you have just posted. When I go into Guests permissions, I see only the tabs for Forum, Calendar, Downloads
  20. I've found search flood control. If I set this for 'days', so that the search will not initiate immediately, is this tying up server resources as the forum 'waits' for the number of days to pass?
  21. Anja, we did a work around for this issue. It takes a good bit of time and effort. I first searched for members who had visited with the last year. I checked everyone on this list to see if they had added their birthday to their profile. Then I made a hand written list of these members and their birthdays. Next, with the created list of recently visiting members and their birthdays, I went into the calendar and added each birthday as an event, marking them as hidden. When you add an event, it will post about it, so if it is hidden, only admin can see it. Now, I look at the calendar every day, and at night before someone's birthday, I click on the event and 'unhide' it. Then I post a comment under the announcement or add a birthday emoji to make the post current. Another way to recognize birthdays is, once you have made your own list of members with their BD, create an announcement for each one. Yes, this is very labor intensive, but with an announcement, you can set the date for the announcement to be displayed and then made inactive the next day. After a member's birthday, I go in and delete the announcement. It doesn't make sense to me that the birthday function was written out of the software, how much space can that possibly take? ðŸ˜
