Install and upgrade page - Invision (Dark mode)
@Ehren .sGuides__selfHost { /* background: #fafafa; Just needs removing, it makes a huge difference. Probably just an oversight, instead of a bug, but it doesn't look right and is hard to read in dark mode. I don't know if it was the same for everyone, but at the end of "The Simpsons" episodes, there used to be a sound bite where a guy yelled "My eyes, my eyes, my beautiful eyes." 😜 That's how reading this feels. PS. I've waited years to use this as a reference. 😂

Invision Community 5.0.3 Released
I upgraded my dev install from 5.0.0 to 5.0.3 absolutely fine. :)

Do you have a few minutes to help us with Trustpilot?
It's not just TrustPilot. Capterra has fantastic feedback and can further show positive rep for the Invision product. https://www.capterra.com/p/184942/Invision-Community/reviews/

You forced my bill from $80 a year to $200 a year. W.T.F.
Can I just add, it's nice to know who replied to the feedback. This type of openness shows Invision is transparent and more than just a faceless company. (I am not suggesting Invision is; what I am saying is, from the appearance of feedback, it might seem so to readers.) That personal touch is a big acknowledgment. Also, I don't want to sound nitpicky, but your feedback to all reviews says a lot, and I would encourage more than just thanking people who leave 4/5-star reviews. The approach to negative reviews is fine, but you could take the approach of what you can do to improve them—even if the person seems unwilling. By leaving a bit more of a response to good reviews, it shows how genuine and appreciated they are. Some readers will be skeptical and will judge every word, so my point in this comment is to ensure that those who put time into reviewing Invision don't get dismissed as disingenuous or potentially fake. I'm sure all this is known, but it's worth considering what, with the way people actually read reviews. Amazon, etc, have given things a bit of a bad reputation, and I think those who might be reading about Invision in this scenario will see a difference, that's all.

Personally, I think you handled it better because you kept it public. The private route can lead to further trouble, especially if someone is having a bad time. Seeing messages disappear in seconds, and not getting a chance to read or understand them. Followed by never having been rude, but feeling as if you can't give feedback. With mental health these days, you never know what it's like for the other person, but swearing and being abusive isn't acceptable.

Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications
It's scary how easily Microsoft emails are hacked, compared to others. I have never lost access to an account, but my Microsoft email has been targeted by an attempted access, and it's a scary thought that you might lose it. Just as it would be to lose your site, both cases are equally important. I think members are very inclined to reach out the moment that they have lost access to their email, and there are more practical ways of dealing with lost emails. Seek members to come to you; try to verify that they are the person. It's not easy, but you could ask them things that demonstrate that they are the person behind the lost account. Verify where they live, hobbies, etc. I don't think a hacker would seek their victim's web forum accounts; it's more likely credit cards and things linked to finances. Or, taking over social media profiles to scam people.

Placing a warning alert on the registration page
The plugin you are looking for is: Message on Signup Form By Edward Shephard Unfortunately, I don't remember who Edward is. I hope someone can help you track it down.

Placing a warning alert on the registration page
There used to be a free plugin which did this, are you using v5? If that's the case I don't know if there's anything out there yet that does this. It's something I do myself. -Edit Sorry, I'll find the link to the plugin I use, I see you are using v4. I'm currently on my mobile, but I'll find it.

Dangerous PHP Functions Enabled
Do you use cPanel, DirectAdmin or something else? You can basically edit your php.ini file, but it also depends on the type of hosting you have. If you do manage to disable the extensions, yet still continue to see the message. Clear your site's cache via the support tool and sign out. When you sign back in, it should be gone. Personally, I found I had to disable the extensions on my server and in the php.ini file. Another client suggested to me that I should sign out, and when I did, the message disappeared and has not once come back. Yet in the past, before this, I just changed the php.ini and it did briefly go away, but later returned a few months later. I'm not sure exactly, but I found a topic discussing it, and I followed the advice, which was to disable the extensions, exclude them in the php.ini, clear the cache, and sign out and back in. I hope you manage to disable them.

Thank you, @Ehren for taking into consideration the feedback that has been provided here. I do think it makes a welcome return, and shows just that the unlikely thought of its return is wrong.

Converting physical products from v4 to 5.0
You can still sell physical items, just without the weight measurements and shipping etc. @Gary sells physical products on his site. So, I can't convert items into a version that works on v5? I have existing links on the internet, that use the URLs as a means to bring in customers. I'm just trying to retain what I can, but it sounds like I can't. Could you please ensure this is the case.

Converting physical products from v4 to 5.0
How do you convert physical products from v4 to v5.0? Would you please be able to explain what I should do? I tried during the betas and final, but I ended up with locked items. Please could you avice me? Do I need to change something before?

Customise the embedded mp3/audio player?
There have been resources in the past, at least for v4 that allowed you to customise this type of thing but that comes without using the default browser's player.

How to translate V5 ?
Be careful editing databases in order to change the language strings. I'm surprised that nobody else has warned this, usually everything related to database isn't wise to recommend and is discouraged. There's got to be a safer means to edit the language strings?

Subscription System Improvements and Updates
Some solid feedback on what the subscriptions system could be improved, I think there's room for additional widgets for this also but I have outlined this before.

Page block more than 1 image
I think you would need to target the blocks CSS directly to make the changes you wish. Alternatively, if you have the Pages app. You could create a block based on the default carousel and customise the default template to how you would prefer. If you are not familiar with coding, there's a chance posting in the customisation forums might see you get the help you need.

Invision Community 5: Week 1 Update
I'm hoping to see how v5 continues to improve over the next few months, but the initial release is exciting and I do really like the software. It's good to have played around with the betas to final, it's giving me time to reflect on what's needed for v4. -Test- I can still edit it, whereas the text gives the impression I can't edit before it's approved.

Moving quotes in v5 editor
Ah, before I could physically place them like in v4. I was aware of the comment before and after, that makes sense.

PM title bug repeated message
Something felt off, but I couldn't figure out what, and then I realised this. It seems like a bug, but the PM title is "Can we talk".

Star for threads I've posted in
I do think older users might find the new avatar style confusing, especially those who don't use social media. It might be something a third-party devs picks up if it is possible. I can understand the modernisation.

Why doesn't Invision allow signatures on here?
I asked this a while ago. I used to use mine to show what third-party apps. I am not sure what the reason was for its removal. I did a quick search a moment ago on here and via Google and found no answers. How come we can't use them? I remember someone saying they had been turned off for a while, but never why.

Cloud to Selfhosted - Transition Process
Invision offers support to cloud clients who want to become self-hosted? I didn't know that. I looked at the cloud prices a few days ago, as I was taking notes on the service. Invision helps bring people over, I believe, I read.

Difference between reactions and helpful
I think something 'helpful' is when someone goes above and beyond, like helping someone. The reactions are good, and you might have one for being helpful, but it seems like another way to give value. I use it a fair bit on here as a marker. 🙂

Moving quotes in v5 editor
In the test site Invision provided, I was able to play around with the position of quotes without having to delete them. This was the same in earlier beta versions I tested on my dev site. On this site and my dev site, I can no longer move quotes. I like how easy it is to be able to post above and below. I am just unsure if being able to reposition something like a quote on a desktop no longer exists or if it is a bug.
