Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 19Feb 19 Dear Support TeamI hope you're doing well.I would like to upgrade our Invision Community forum from version 4 to version 5. However, I currently do not have access to this option via the Admin Control Panel. Could you please grant me the necessary permissions to proceed with the upgrade?Additionally, I would like to set up a test installation of version 5 on a separate forum to evaluate its features and compatibility. Could you clarify whether upgrading the test forum to version 5 would also require us to upgrade the production forum, or if we can keep the live forum running on version 4 independently?I appreciate your guidance and look forward to your response.
February 19Feb 19 Community Expert You can do the test forum separately, thats no problem. There is no permission that is required to upgrade. Its that the upgrade initially is a manual upgrade. You cannot upgrade from the admin CP. So you would need to upload v5 files, and run the upgrader from /admin/upgrade

February 19Feb 19 Community Expert I cannot download v5 files.I think that you will need to convert your license for that. Have a look at the page that will be displayed after you click on the Click here link.

February 19Feb 19 Community Expert That is indeed correct. You would need to convert if you wish to use version 5

February 19Feb 19 Community Expert Are you planning to give access to version 5 in the future for my self-hosted license for 6 months? The Classic license is required for version 5. Your license terms will eventually be discontinued once version 4 is no longer supported. The Classic license is the self-hosting license moving forward.
