Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 12Feb 12 Home2000.comI trying to comply with the message I got from InVision Community, Dangerous PHP Functions Enabled . My issue is I don't know what is dangerous so I have a list here. Hopefully you can help me with this problem. I've been dealing with. for the last couple weeks. I'm so close after a couple years of getting this site up and running. I even paid somebody to get up and running and this is where he left me.I'm using a beta version 5.0 . I want to update this to newly released 5.0. I tried but it would not let me update. The following is a list I got from SiteGround, my provider. I would be using your service, but I knew is going to take me some time to develop the site and I didn't want to pay a large sum while I was putting things together. Once together I will switch. I did try to get in touch with sales but no luck.So all said, I need to know what PHP to disable.amerifax@gmail.com Edited February 12Feb 12 by Bob Snow
February 12Feb 12 Community Expert The notification in the ACP will tell you which ones you have enabled and should probably disable. Please note that these are just recommendations to better secure your server. They will not actually halt you from upgrading or doing anything with our software. If you can't upgrade the software, it is another issue entirely.
February 12Feb 12 Author But my message said I needed to disable the dangerous PHP. How do I know what is dangerous with out knowing. The image I included says hat is enabled and disabled. Bob

February 13Feb 13 Do you use cPanel, DirectAdmin or something else? You can basically edit your php.ini file, but it also depends on the type of hosting you have. If you do manage to disable the extensions, yet still continue to see the message. Clear your site's cache via the support tool and sign out. When you sign back in, it should be gone.Personally, I found I had to disable the extensions on my server and in the php.ini file.Another client suggested to me that I should sign out, and when I did, the message disappeared and has not once come back. Yet in the past, before this, I just changed the php.ini and it did briefly go away, but later returned a few months later. I'm not sure exactly, but I found a topic discussing it, and I followed the advice, which was to disable the extensions, exclude them in the php.ini, clear the cache, and sign out and back in.I hope you manage to disable them.

If you are unsure from looking at that, you really need to contact your hosting company to perform this on your behalf. I did try to get in touch with sales but no luck.I can see a ticket in sales there, but that was only submitted a couple of hours after this topic. Im not seeing any others. We will of course reply to that for you as soon as we can :)
