Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Carole Asselin Posted Friday at 08:36 PM Posted Friday at 08:36 PM I got multiple notifications (6x) that a post needs approval, however, I can't see that post. Where would I see posts to be approved?

Where would I see posts to be approved? You would want to ensure you're logged in as a moderator which has access in order to do so if you are clicking the link in the email notification. As an administrator, we recommend giving yourself unrestricted moderator permissions. However, you can also go to Mod CP -> Approval Queue.

Yes, you'll want to go to ACP -> Members -> Staff -> Moderators. 9 minutes ago, Carole Asselin said: Can you clarify where to find that? I am still unsure where it is. It's on the front-end -> click your name in the top right -> Moderator CP
Carole Asselin Posted Friday at 10:33 PM Author Posted Friday at 10:33 PM I must be missing something basic. When I go to ACP -> Members -> Staff -> Moderators I see this: That leads me to believe that I am not an admin nor a moderator, yet, on the front end, I can see this on any thread/post: Which I thought was limited to moderators. And on the front end, I don't see a Moderator CP: Again, maybe I am mistunderstanding something.
teraßyte Posted Saturday at 12:34 AM Posted Saturday at 12:34 AM The ModeratorCP entry should be right above the AdminCP one. 🤨 Maybe you have the Moderator CP module disabled inside the System (core) application? That's the only thing I can think of that would hide the link despite your permissions being set correctly:
Carole Asselin Posted Saturday at 12:54 AM Author Posted Saturday at 12:54 AM 18 minutes ago, teraßyte said: The ModeratorCP entry should be right above the AdminCP one. 🤨 Do I need a ModeratorCP? Shouldn't the Admin be able to do all those tasks? I am the only one with any "moderation" permission as the admin. I am the only admin too. Shouldn't the admin be able to allow posts that require approval?
teraßyte Posted Saturday at 01:15 AM Posted Saturday at 01:15 AM Yes, you need it. Several functions are available only there (approval queue, announcements, deleted content, alerts, etc).
Carole Asselin Posted Saturday at 01:20 AM Author Posted Saturday at 01:20 AM That is more confusing. I am an admin. I can add, delete, and move posts. Do I still have to add myself as an admin? And then, I would also have to add myself as a moderator?
teraßyte Posted Saturday at 01:26 AM Posted Saturday at 01:26 AM You're confusing things: Administrators can do things in ACP. Moderators can do things on the front end (and use the ModCP if they have access to it) Based on your screenshots above you setup the Administrator group as a moderator (for the front end), but the ModeratorCP is not showing up for some reason. Unfortunately, it's impossible to tell what the issue is without more information. 🤷♂️
Carole Asselin Posted Saturday at 01:29 AM Author Posted Saturday at 01:29 AM Just now, teraßyte said: Unfortunately, it's impossible to tell what the issue is without more information. What kind of information would be needed? I am trying to follow the instructions in the document referred to earlier and it does not seem to help. I have had my forum for 2 years now. I am able to do some "moderation" tasks, so I never knew of any difference. It is only this recent "post needs approval" (and I have no idea why it does that as the poster is a regular one) that brings up this question.
teraßyte Posted Saturday at 01:33 AM Posted Saturday at 01:33 AM 2 minutes ago, Carole Asselin said: What kind of information would be needed? The moderator is unrestricted, so the permissions are not the problem. I've already mentioned in my previous reply about checking if the module is disabled. P.S.: Just to double-check, the account in your screenshot (Cassel) is in either the Administrators or Moderators group. Correct?

But as you can see, even though I am an administrator and have access to the AdminCP, I don't have the ModeratorCP AND it seems I don't have some permissions I need. I still have no clue where I can approve of a post I got a notification for.

If you try to load the link to the approval section in the ModeratorCP, what do you see? You can do that by adding the following at the end of your forum url. /modcp/approval-queue/

When I click on the link I got in the notification, it only directs me to the thread where the post is, not the post itself. And I don't understand how to load the link in the approval section in the ModeratorCP since I don't have a ModeratorCP. I am probably missing something basic.
Miss_B Posted Saturday at 05:01 PM Posted Saturday at 05:01 PM 1 minute ago, Carole Asselin said: I am sorry but I don't understand. What I meant was to load the direct link to the approval section in the ModeratorCP. That should tell you if the section in question has been disabled inside the System application as mentioned above by teraByte, or if it is enabled, but you can't access it. i.e. that will tell us more about the situation. And then we can go from there. teraßyte 1

I might sound thick, but I don't know what you mean. What direct link? and where is the approval section since I don't have a ModeratorCP?
teraßyte Posted Saturday at 05:59 PM Posted Saturday at 05:59 PM You need to add text to your forum's URL. For example, if your site URL is: https://www.domain.com/forums/ Type this URL in your browser's address bar: https://www.domain.com/forums/modcp/approval-queue/ If it is: https://www.domain.com/ then type: https://www.domain.com/modcp/approval-queue/ Etc. Carole Asselin Posted Saturday at 06:34 PM Author Posted Saturday at 06:34 PM (edited) This is what I used: https://scrapbookcampus.com/invision/forums/modcp/approval-queue/ And I get Sorry! The page you requested does not exist And yes, I installed the forum in the "invision" folder since it includes both the forum and the gallery. Edited Saturday at 06:36 PM by Carole Asselin
