I have checked that the table core_theme_editor_settings exists. ✅
I have ran the recovery mode to ensure the v5 theme is correct. ✅

/sitefolder/ and /domain/ has been changed by me. My site details are correct.

I manually uploaded the files twice from the directory, no issue with uploading and nothing failed. I successfully upgraded to v5 beta 10 - I would have thought this would have picked things missing up? Could there be something else going on?

I'll try re-uploading a fresh set of files again. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I did successfully from Beta 9.1 to 10, no issues. That's my point, there's something more to this, but I can only try so much before trying to reach out. Which is the purpose of this. The most recent beta version available in the client area indicates Invision Community 4. I get it's a busy time, but I can't resolve this myself, because I've tried what I can. 😞 

The latest stable release is indeed version 4. As for the file showing 4 when downloaded, Ive just checked and it actually shows "invision community". Im not sure why you have _4 prefixed there

Aye, but I'm downloading v5 Beta 10.

I am currently uploading a fresh set of files from the Beta 10 download. Hopefully, it will fix the footer issue, but I did this twice with the previous Beta, so I am not really certain it will make a difference. Thanks for confirming.

@Marc: Uploaded the new files, my dev site is inaccessible now.

I really hope the Beta 10 download wasn't 4.19, but it seemed to be correct. There wasn't a plugin folder. Could this please be looked into? It's not urgent, but it's apparent that something isn't right. I would very much appreciate it.

That's because of how IDM (Internet Download Manager) works. You most likely already have other 4 files in the Downloads directory so the app renames the file progressively to avoid overwriting existing ones:

• Invision_Community.zip
• Invision_Community_1.zip
• Invision_Community_2.zip
• Invision_Community_3.zip

It could be, but the previous download said 5 when I upgraded. I delete all files, so no previous ones are on my laptop. Not the zip's at least.

If you have uploaded files you will want to try to re-try the upgrader. If you're getting errors we would need to know those errors. We cannot assist without further info. Keep in mind, as the software is still in beta that these things will happen and restoring and trying again is common. Please be respectful to those trying to assist you.

Nothing I wrote was disrespectful. We're back to the generic responses, I have provided errors and generic replies were given. I have been asked if I had ran the upgrader, I have said my sites inaccessible before. I have mentioned that every step and actions I have taken without any practical support. Please don't try to be patronising, I've been more than fair.

Please check your error logs. If it is PHP suppressing the error, we will need to know what it is.

You can obfuscate any sensitive information, give us a file location of the server error log on your FTP access, or post it in the notes area of the Client Area access details page if it's a 1 line error. I'm afraid, beta software is not yet fully supported so would not get fully escalated via normal means at this time. If the previous mentioned does not suit you, a restore back before this issue started should be done.

I thought Invision might be interested, more so with the issues due to version, that it be bug, and my site only became inaccessible after downloading the v5 Beta 10. I find it weird the white pages and 505 errors came only after trying to make sure that there wasn't any files missing. Again, something which I reported but was overlooked. Why report errors, if dismissing the user or pasting a very generic response which is extremely unhelpful. I get that you guys are busy, I'm not remotely unreasonable but to take offence over frustration was rude. You guys are professionals, if a client isn't clear then please ask to clarify. Whilst I try to make sure I'm clear, I get that it might not come across that way. However, I was going in circles and again this is a place to report bugs and issues. Provided the majority aren't, I suppose that's fine but rudeness can be taken from my point of view too - especially when you repeatedly mention an issue only to be ignored.

While I agree and apologize that I could further explained the reason why I asked if the upgrade was completed (people tend to state they upgraded when in reality, they uploaded files, so I wanted to ensure the upgrader was ran and completed). I want to assure you that we do not post questions or statements without reason. Afterall, resolving your issue as quickly as possible is in both of our best interest 🙂 . Often, there are questions we need to ask to understand how you got there, try things to proceed, etc... This is all in the process of supporting you and I understand, it feels like treading water at times because it isn't resolving your issue; answering questions and crossing possible issues off the list, proceeds us to that end goal of resolution.

I am sorry to hear that you feel you are being ignored, that is not our intention. While we understand you have an issue here, there are many steps to getting to resolve it and suggestions. However, as mentioned above, there are limitations to the beta program. With those, we need your help so we can help you. Answering our questions, trying the steps we ask, providing error messages, etc... This is all part of the support process 🙂 .

The beta program also is limited in support, and this is a new major software (aka new problems to us) so while, I apologize, it may not be the most immediate resolution, we are indeed trying to assist you and learn about version 5 issues as we go.

Please check your init.php file in your installations root. It is empty. This is creating the problem. Please reupload this file.

I used the init.php from my backup before upgrading to v5. Is this safe? I assumed it would be okay since it was what I originally used.

I'm afraid I still can't access the ACP, and the site is completely white.

Could you please look at this new error log? It seems different from the first one and longer. Although it all goes over my head, if it turns out to be more of a headache, I'm happy to persist with repeating the upgrade from 4.7 to 5.

You and the team work incredibly hard, and I appreciate your efforts. I don't wish to keep bringing things up, but I appreciate your response, apology, and explanation. 

I was trying my best to resolve the footer issue. I found the error, but I was only told that files were missing. Marc said, "You appear to be missing files and a table according to that message," which led me to check if the files were present. In hindsight, I believe the files were there, and something more complicated was happening. I'm not being difficult, but the response wasn't very detailed.

I followed up with what I did, explaining that I uploaded fresh files, and at that stage, the site was still working with the footer error. I acknowledge that I could have been clearer, but when I saw the comment, "Please be respectful to those trying to assist you," about a simple emoji posted in frustration, it felt unjustified. 

I have documented my responses and what I have been doing. I never say I did something I didn't do, and I think it was clear the issue stemmed from the Beta 10 files I downloaded from the Client Area. I don't want to play the blame game, but I want to be clear that this has caused frustration on my end. 

I respect the team and love Invision as a product. I appreciate the apology and just want to move forward from this issue.

The init.php file is a source code file, so you'll want the most recent one from the Client Area. If it is still failing after upload, we will need the new error message involved.

Appreciate the willingness to move forward. I do want to take a minute here to explain the errors Marc mentioned.

Two issues were posted, one below is about missing files (access to code) and one about a missing database table.

That means the software could not find the module (code) in question being referenced. This is typically because files were not fully uploaded, corrupted, are out of date, or your server does not have access. If there are more files on your server which are empty, like the init.php file, this may stem from your FTP client or something corrupting files on the server during upload or otherwise.

That database table should be there from the start. It is a version 5 database table so was created to run the software. Something beyond the software has either corrupted or deleted the database table. (note: we're not pointing fingers and saying you did it, we're just relaying the information here 🙂 . weird things happen with servers, we've seen and continue to see our fair share, just ask out Cloud team 😄 ).

Now, with the information provided from you, Marc opted to try and fix the first issue about the missing software files to see if that rendered any easier path forward with the database issue. 

You're more than welcome to ask questions before doing an action. We like for you to understand why an action is being performed. However, if you give us an error that a file is missing, we're going to want to have you upload all files again as not only does this resolve the issue 99% of the time (it also shouldn't make the issue worse), it also will hopefully prevent us from playing leapfrog with issues down the line. As if one file is missing/out of date, many could be as well.

Hope that explains things a bit more. 

I have started to restore a new backup of my live site, so that I can run the upgrader again.

Please feel free to check your download from the Client Area and let us know if the files are missing. They are not from my test licenses but of course, anything can happen 🙂 .
